Adding a second screen
I want to add a second screen so I can see two different screens at the same time. The laptop is running on Windows 10. I have an old screen with a 15 pin connection. Purchased a 15 pin to HDMI adopter. Windows 10 will not recognize the second screen. In settings the display box displays "1/2" rather than "screen 1 and 2".
Should I be using a 15 pin to a UBS adopter instead or could it be that my screen is too old.
I would appreciate your input.

Greetings @DavePro
So if you're going from HDMI on the laptop to VGA, you need an HDMI to VGA adapter. Interpret this literally. If your adapter says VGA to HDMI, then it's backwards and it won't work. Either an adapter or a USB adapter will work though. -
The adapter I used was "HDMI to VGA Adapter with audio", and it did not work. The screen I am trying to us is ViewSonic VG150B.

@DavePro
So seeing the 1|2 means you're in duplicate instead of extend. The monitors can't have independent resolutions in this mode. Press Windows + P, and toggle to Extend, then you should be able to adjust the resolution on the second monitor to get it to work.
