Computer restarts every time i play video games. Please help
So i finally upgrade my computer after 8 years and after finished building it, everything works fine but everytime i play any sort of games on it, my computer would restart itself. My setup is
Ryzen 3900X
Geforce GTX 680
MAG X570 Tomahawk Wifi
Gskill DDR4 3600
Corsair HX850 watts
My GPU and power supply is the only thing i havent upgraded yet. And it seems like everytime i play my games on a very low setting, it would take a while to reboot itself.

Hello @deezysan_23
Are you getting any bluescreens? Any error codes at all? Have you checked to see if you have the latest drivers for your GPU?
-
Nope, no bluescreens. It just restart the comp as it normally would. And no error codes. Yes, i have the latest drivers for the gpu and i updated my bios as well. Its weird because the gpu worked for my old setup with no problems

If you're experiencing a full system shutdown that's usually an indication of a power issue, or possibly something overheating. Can you measure the temperatures on your CPU and GPU while you're running the system and see where they are?
-
Last time i checked, it was around 45-75. But never above it. I can double check again when i get home. And im also using the Amd stock cooler Prism wraith with the stock thermal paste on it as well

It'd probably also be worthwhile to do a clean reinstall of your video drivers.

Thank you, will give this a try and hope it fix the problem. Sigh, this is so stressful
-
Let us know if that doesn't work. I'd also make sure you download all the drivers for your motherboard to be safe.
-
so i've done all of that and it still reboots when i play video games. Both my gpu and cpu are not over heating. Im guessing my ram is faulty?

@deezysan_23
Two possibilities here. One the GPU driver crashes and then the system BSOD's, you just can't see it. Need to check a tool like bluscreenview or event logs to verify this. Could be a faulty GPU or a number of other issues. Option two if there's no error. Intermittent power loss. Power drops for a second, system restarts as a result. Check your outlet, power cable, power supply, and motherboard in that order. -
i finally found the problem. It was the power supply. I used my brother's power supply and when i was gaming, it didnt reboot at all. Its weird because my old power supply worked just fine with my old setup

@deezysan_23 congratulations on figuring out the root of the issue so you can now take care of it and be able to game again!!
