Sticking Dell Laptop Keys
Beth
✭
I started having problems with what I thought were sticking "t" and "y" keys on my Dell Laptop. I made the mistake of trying to unstick the "t," the button popped off, and now I can't reinstall the button. The problem with those two keys still persists. Also having intermittent problems with the backspace and shift key. Seems the problem is worse in some applications (like Messenger) than others. Amazed my keys are working now! Should I bother with downloading newer software or go directly to purchasing and replacing the keyboard? If it's not difficult to replace, I'd like to attempt to replace it myself. Thanks for any help!

Hello @Beth
Just to confirm, the "sticking" isn't a physical sticking where the key gets stuck but you are seeing something along the lines of "tttttttttttttttt" or "ttttthank yyyyou"? -
Hi there. The majority of the time, I have to hold down the key for several seconds, and then I get "ttttttttttttt." Additionally, I'm having a difficult time typing capital letters. As yet another "fun" feature, I can't simply backspace to auto delete all those excessive t's. I have to arrow over and delete them from left to right. Oh, the frustrations of life, right?

I see, sounds like it's a bad keyboard driver or a bad keyboard in general.
Although this guide is for Windows 7, it works the same way for Windows 10. Can you try following this guide on removing your keyboard drivers; https://www.microcenter.com/tech_center/article/5214/how-to-reinstall-the-keyboard-drivers-in-windows-7 -
