Help with PC Gaming System

Hi,
We are needing help with gaming systems. Due to the pandemic and our family being high risk for COVID, our son can’t compete in person on his high school eSports team.
We are due for a new PC for Microsoft Word/Works anyways, but wanted to set up a gaming system as good but cheap as possible as money is tight so he can connect to his high school and still play online with them.
