New Laptop for Work
I need new laptop computer for work. I am wondering if I can have everything on my current laptop transferred to my new one, and how long it takes to get that done. I don't want to be out of work for very long while the new laptop is being configured and the files and programs being transferred from the old one.

An important note to mention is that we'd only be able to transfer data, not software. So documents, pictures, music files, etc... would be transferred, but programs like Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, etc... would have to be redownloaded/reinstalled on the new computer.I think this would be best discussed with an associate who can take a look at your old computer. They'd be able to give you the best recommendation. However, as I mentioned above, we're not able to transfer software.

Hello @davorbeck, and welcome! Our service desks at the store can do data migration/transfer for $79.99 if you bring your old system in when you purchase the new one. An important note to mention is that we'd only be able to transfer data, not software. So documents, pictures, music files, etc... would be transferred, but programs like Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, etc... would have to be redownloaded/reinstalled on the new computer. Our service department is based around first come first serve system, so the turnaround time would vary depending on how busy our service department is when you bring in your laptop. They'd be able to give you an estimate at that time.
If you want to do the data transfer yourself, the simplest way would be to copy all your information from the old computer to an external hard drive, then transfer it from the drive onto the new computer.

I'm really looking for a turnkey opportunity, here. I need to have everything from my old computer (including the software and data and files) transferred to the new one. If I have to buy new software for the new one (like Windows Office, Adobe, etc.) to get this to work, that's fine, but I need to know what I'm looking at to do that. Should I just bring my old computer to a Micro Center location and have them guide me there, or can I get a sense of what's needed via online communications, first?
