B550 BIOS Question (New Build)

Hi, I am looking at building a new PC (first time) and using a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AM4 ATX with a AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. I have read about requiring a BIOS update before installing the CPU, assuming your model does not have the latest update. How do you tell if your Motherboard is already updated? Do you just stick in a USB regardless (with the BIOS update) and if the light doesn't flash then it is considered updated already? I am a bit confused
Thanks in advance

  • It would depend on the BIOS that is currently on the motherboard. Updating the BIOS is something that we can offer in our service department. Typically, you can add the BIOS update to a USB root and then using a previous generation CPU, update the BIOS in the UEFI on the motherboard. It does require adding the most up to date BIOS to the USB and it also requires a previous generation CPU.
    Hope this info helps!
