Ryzen 5, 5600X And Msi B450?

I’m new here and this is my first pic build, picked up some parts to start my first build. 

Corsair tower
ryzen 5 5600x 
msi b450 tomahawk max
16gb ram
1tb- ssd
750w power supply
I didn’t go for a great video card because quite frankly they had nothing with the $300-400 price range that was worth it. So for now I picked up Msi 550, just to get the build running. 

I updated bios for the motherboard, basically went to msi website downloaded,extracted, renamed and transfers the update to a thumb drive and plugged it in and used the bios flash feature and it did its thing. After about 5-7 mins I started the build and finally powered up and I have no picture, no screen at all: I’m thinking the MB AND CPU are not compatible. Any ideas would be appreciated. I’ve been researching for days while checking over things and I’m pretty bummed. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for posting on the Micro Center Community!  For the motherboard, was the motherboard you bought a B450 or a B550?  The processor you have is incompatible with Zen 3 Ryzen Processors.

So I'm curious as to how the 5600x runs with the b450 MOBO. Are you overclocking and if so, what kind of speeds are you getting? You also mentioned RAM but, not what the speed is.

@PeterM65 what graphic card do you have (not a great video card)? For the 5600x to post you'll need a discreet graphic card installed like a RTX 1660 or even a 1080 can work.
