AT&T Fiber Modem/Router

I recently became an AT&T fiber customer, and they are doing everything they can to make me rent their modem/router for a $10/month rental fee. I do not want to do this, but I can find very little information on alternatives to this. They say it's possible to use other equipment, but I have no idea what specs have to be met or what modems/routers are compatible.

I've done a bit of looking into this to see if there is a set list of compatible devices that you could use instead.

At this time, It looks like the AT&T modem is required for the service.

TVPA

Broadband and TV providers are now required to stop charging "rental" fees for equipment that customers own themselves under  the Television Viewer Protection Act (TVPA) that took effect December 20, 2020. If you buy your own modem and router, then AT&T is prohibited by law from charging you a fee for your own equipment. As long as you return AT&T's gateway, they cannot penalize or charge you.
