so my 2nd pc has an i5 6700 and I want to upgrade it to an i7-8700 from my main build (i got an i9 9900k)
and basically its an asus prime 270-ar and i have 2 problems 1, i don't know if its compatible 2. i can't find the recent bios for it anymore, there's a webpage, but nothing is on it.

I don't believe the i7-8700 would not be compatible with the ASUS Prime Z270-AR
You would need a Z370 or B360 board that would be compatible with the chip.
It looks like ASUS is no longer actively supporting that motherboard and I'm no longer able to find a BIOS update for the board. I'd recommend contacting ASUS directly about this if you're still interested in it.
