NO help from warranty or service contract

The "A" key came off my six-month old HP laptop keyboard purchased at Micro Center. No big deal, right? My first surprise was that this requires a whole new keyboard (not Micro Center's fault, but the earth cried a little). Second surprise is that Micro Center will not accept it as a warranty repair, even with my service contract, because it is considered "accidental damage." I was quoted a minimum of $150 just for parts. Funny thing is, HP has no problem with it, but I have to send the computer to Texas. How many computers have I bought at Micro Center? Loyalty shaken.

  • Hello @DMH and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. We're sorry you are having issues with the HP laptop. Was the keyboard accidently dropped or a pet accidently pulled it off, etc.? What store was this HP laptop purchased from?

  • There was no accidental damage or unusual use. A key simply came off the keyboard. The computer was purchased in August 2020 at Micro Center, St. Louis Park, MN.

  • Hey @DMH let me check on this HP purchase. I don't want to request information from you over a public forum. So I'll create a ticket and email you. We can review your options there. Be on the look out for the email.
