The Wyze Cam V3 is the newest in-home security from Wyze. While the Wyze Cam V2 is an impressive home security camera, the Wyze Cam V3 makes many large improvements over its predecessor, offering greater performance and a large set of features.

What is the difference between the Wyze Cam V3 and the Wyze Cam V2? 

While both cameras offer clear 1080p recordings, the Wyze Cam V3 took the strong base of the V2 and expanded on it. The V3 increased frame rates, up to 20 fps for day/15 fps night, versus 15 fps day/10 fps night for the Wyze Cam v2. The V3 also increases the field of view to 130 degrees, offering a wider coverage area than the V2.

The V3 also does a lot to improve outdoor usage, adding weather resistance with an IP65 rating to its long list of improvements. Wyze overhauled the V2’s approach to night vision as well by doubling the number of infrared LEDs and greatly improving the V3’s low light sensor. The increased infrared LEDs allow for long-distance night vision in no light scenarios; its new Starlight sensor allows for color night vision in environments with very minimal lighting available.

The Wyze Cam V3 also added an 80db alarm that can be manually turned on through the Wyze app.

Both the Wyze Cam V2 and V3 include a microSD card slot for local video recording, set up to record continuously or movement triggered. This is in addition to what can be stored on Wyze’s cloud service, Cam Plus. A complimentary 14-day Cam Plus trial comes with either camera, but afterward, it runs $1.99 per camera per month when billed monthly or $1.25 per camera per month, billed annually.

The Wyze Cam works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT (If This, Then That), which allows you to integrate it with many other smart home devices. 

Both cameras have a 2-way voice feature. You can use the app to speak through your phone or device, and the camera has a microphone for real-time communication.

With adjustable detection zone settings, paired along with the Cam Plus AI detection and the notifications sent instantly to your phone or device, you can always know what’s going on at your home.
