I am attempting to upgrade my internal hard drive on a dell latitude 5591. The hard disk interface type is a 2.5", SATA Rev 3.0 with backward compatibility. I see that these Western Digital "blue" and "red" models with 1 TB and 500 GB respectively are highly rated online (2.5 Inch – Western Digital Blue WD10SPZX or WDS100T2B0A, and Western Digital Red WDS500G1R0A ). Will they work or, if not, could you recommend a 1 TB hard drive that would for around $100? Thank you.
Hello @jkempo
Yes, both of these drives would work with the Latitude 5591. The Blue drive is a standard hard drive, while the Red is meant for a NAS or Network Area Storage. So, I'd have to recommend the Blue if you do choose an HDD.
However, my recommendation for you on this laptop would be an SSD instead of the regular HDD. SSD's offer better performance and in many cases more reliability.
I'd recommend this 1TB Crucial here. https://www.microcenter.com/product/501993/crucial-mx500-1tb-ssd-3d-tlc-nand-sata-iii-6gb-s-25-internal-solid-state-drive We currently have a sale on the SSD, which should keep it in your budget!
I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about this. Please let me know if you do!
