1) I need a recommendation (confirmation) on a hardrive for this laptop. I have been told I can upgrade to SATA 1TB 7.2rpm 512e 2.5in What drives meet this specification? 2) Can my exixting drive be copied over so I can use it pretty much plug and play? 3) Does the tech dept do this?
Hello!
Yes you can change the hard drive in this. A 2.5" 7200rpm drive is a tough find. As seeing the laptop already has a 5400rpm drive, if you're looking for an upgrade in storage and speed, I'd suggest looking at a 1 TB 2.5" SSD for just a few dollars more than a standard 1TB 5400RPM drive. Something such as https://www.microcenter.com/product/508183/inland-professional-1tb-ssd-3d-nand-sata-iii-6gb-s-25-internal-solid-state-drive will work great with your laptop.
