If I'm guessing right "Open Box" means something that has been brought once but returned within the return window? And is just getting sold for a discount as it was bought already once?
Open box can mean a few things. Often times it means an item was previously purchased and returned for any number of reasons. If the product was deemed defective or not in working order (such as a desktop system), the failing component or issue would be replaced/addressed and the unit would be sold as open box. Most components end up sold as open box due to compatibility issues or customers looking to go with a higher performing component within their return period.
All products are to be tested prior to being resold and those that fail during the test are not resold.
There are other cases such as store display units being sold as open box when the product is no longer needed on display. These do not have a previous customer history, but are still sold as open box nonetheless and are often labeled as "Display" in the notes or on the clearance tag.
