PC Reboots While Gaming
I have just recently bought a new powerspec pc a little over a month ago and my Pc reboots while gaming! I only have about 3-4 apps downloaded on the pc itself! I have been monitoring the gpu and cpu temperatures while gaming and they seem to be at a normal temperature! Looking for help on trying to resolve the issue! Hello @N_Hofstetter22 and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. Which Powerspec do you have (ex., G466, B222, etc.)?
Also what games are you playing when it reboots?
-
I have a G437, and I normally only play COD Warzone and it usually will reboot during the first game, sometimes two games and then it will run fine for awhile until a few hours pass and it will reboot again. It also happened to me one time while playing apex legends. I'm new to PC's so I dont know a whole lot about troubleshooting and fixing problems on them! I have already reset the pc to factory settings and uninstalled then reinstalled everything! I am now currently running a OCCT Test
-
@N_Hofstetter22 hmmm, open up Task Manager and click on the Performance tab at the top.
Click on the Memory option to the left and give us a screen shot. We want to see what your Memory speed is processing at currently.
-
@N_Hofstetter22 okay. Go into your Power Options and make sure it set to High Performance. Then go into device manager and uninstall the 3070, delete its drivers. You'll have to reinstall them after it reboots.
Also look on the side or top of the Powerspec, tell us which Build your powerspec has a well.
If need links for how to do the device manager or power option steps let us know.
-
links would be great, im not sure how to change the power option to high performance unless I have to do it through powershell?
-
nevermind i figured the power option out, Ill let you know when i reinstall drivers
-
@N_Hofstetter22 okay and let us know which Build you have as well for the powerspec.
-
okay so I unistalled graphics, is there a particular place i need to reinstall the drivers from? and the build is #4
-
@N_Hofstetter22 yes, but first go back into Device Manager and make sure the EVGA 3070 is not listed under Display Adapters.
If it is, you may need to use DDU to uninstall the drivers.
If its not there, then use the link below to reinstall the drivers (Graphic Card tab). You have a 30 series (ex., 3000, 3070) and OS is Windows 10 64 bit.

yeah it keeps showing that geforce rtx 3070 is still there after uninstalling...I just installed the ddu and its not showing my model... should i just click G436?
-
@N_Hofstetter22 which software is this in your screen shot? Use the link below to download DDU. I've included a youtube video as well on how to execute it. You have to execute DDU in safe mode.

okay so i followed the steps in the video, after restarting my computer, under device manager it says i have the basic driver for about 20 seconds and then nvidia automatically reinstalls the rtx 3070 driver again...is there a way to turn off automatic downloads for that?
-
@N_Hofstetter22 if it reinstalled the driver thats fine. Try right clicking on the rtx 3070 in device manager and do updated drive software, search automatically.
Just to make sure there is no update.
Then launch your game and lets see if it crashes.
-
okay everything is up to date, ill test it out now...thanks for your time, ill get back with you
-
@N_Hofstetter22 great, let us know it works or not.

Hello,
I'm back again because I am still having my computer reboot while gaming. It pretty much seems that any game will reboot. Not only that, I am now experiencing my game giving me a 'Blue Screen Error" while gaming as well now! I find it kind of crazy how my computer can have so many issues when its brand new and I don't even use it quite often and only have a very small amount of things downloaded on it! Am I able to bring it back to Micro Center and exchange it completely? thanks
-
What is the message on the blue screen that you are getting?
-
I got that blue message twice today, and I would say my computer actually went to a black screen and rebooted itself 4 times today while gaming.....it doesn't matter what game I play, my computer always ends up rebooting itself
-
@N_Hofstetter22 just chiming in. Did you just put this computer together or recently install a new component? That watchdog error has to do with a hardware component not working properly. You'll want to check the drivers for your system in Device Manager if you can get to it. What is the make and model of your desktop?
If you have a Custom Build PC, give us a list of the following:
- Motherboard (Make and model)
- GPU (Make and Model)
- PSU (Make and Model)
- RAM (Make and Model DDRXXXXX)
-
I did not build the computer myself, I bought it exactly how it was from Micro Center
-
the only thing you had me do last time was try to uninstall and reinstall my graphic driver
-
@N_Hofstetter22 I see in the beginning of the post you have a Powerspec G437. When was this was purchased from Microcenter?
-
I bought this computer on 04/05/2021
-
@N_Hofstetter22 we are emailing you for more information. You'll have to bring this into the store for repair. Please respond to our email.
-
alright thanks
-
can I just bring the system itself? or do I need to bring the power cords as well?
-
@N_Hofstetter22 just the tower and power cord only.
