I tried this question on Micro Center Chat and they recommended I try this site. I purchased a new 27-inch monitor today. It has a 16 x 9 format. My wife's old E-Machine does not offer a display resolution that matches 16 x 9 format. All the display resolution options leave circles, faces, etc distorted horizontally. I am wondering if I can get a new display controller for her PC that will allow 16 x 9 resolution. The option would have to be USB or the old, plug-in cards (I can not remember what they are called).

Hello @Don_5 and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. The older e-machine may not work with the newer GPUs. Do you know what model or version of e-machine you have? We can link into the specs on the pc to determine if a low profile gpu may work.

Thanks. Problem solved - we have stopped trying to update the old E-Machine and purchased (from Micro Center!) a refurbished Dell machine. Things now looking much better.
