So 2 days ago 5/19/20 my heatsink started making noise and i don't know why. i have a AMD Ryzen 7 3700x. and im using the heatsink that comes with it. At first i thought it was dirty so i pulled it off and used an air duster to clean it and replaced the thermal paste and put it back on the same way i took it off. but when i turned my PC on it just began to ramp up again. i went into the bios to try something there and i also downloaded fan control but i don't know what to do. i built my PC but i am not by any means a tech expert. Can anyone give me any insight or info of what it could be? Thanks
What kind of noise does it make? Does it sound like something could be hitting the fan or does it sound like it could be the fan itself?
It may be time to simply replace the cooler entirely, which isn't the worst thing. You could certainly get a good replacement CPU cooler and not have to spend too much.
