What should a 3D animator need?

Hey so, I know I shouldn't be slapping in anything into a desktop and call it a day. The programs I want to use are Maya, Blender, etc. My budget is looking like 2,000 dollars maybe 400 more just to be sure but I'm wondering what specs should be higher and what I shouldn't need to worry too much about? I'm entirely new to building a PC and a specific one at that.  I feel like CPU, Graphics, and RAM should cover it but I feel like more should be added.

You are correct when it comes to what is needed for rendering programs. A high core count CPU, a good GPU and decently high RAM are all great when it comes to 3D Rendering.

about $837 before tax and leaves ~1,100$ for a GPU to pick since these can be pretty hard to find at the moment.
