I am looking for a docking station for two laptops and an older (early 2014) macbook air. I have keyboards, mouse, two monitors, web cams, printer and ethernet i am looking to connect to each one. Laptops have the following ports:
Macbook air
ASUS Laptop
HP LAPTOP
I tried to connect with a usb C to HDMI cable but had to get an adapter for the extended view to work. No DP Alt Mode(?) I could only connect one monitor to the adapter and the other directly to HDMI port because it lacked DP Alt mode. Will a docking station support two additional monitors in extend mode with any of these connections if i don't have the alt mode? I only want one cable to the laptop. Thank You
Hello @Scott5432 !
Which store location are you shopping at?
Online. closest store is Cambridge, MA which is about 40 minutes.
I was looking at the inland or iogear. Belkin seems to sold out.
Which connection types (HDMI, DIsplayPort etc.) are on your monitors that you were looking to connect?
@Scott5432
I'd suggest this: https://www.microcenter.com/product/438998/dell-usb-30-triple-display-ultrahd-universal-dock-d3100
It's USB 3.0 type A to the system, which all of your systems would be compatible with. The Dell driver won't work with Mac OSX but it's just a DisplayLink device. Get the driver for your Mac here: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/macos
Should work just fine., Up to three monitors at 4K.
Great thanks. I'll go pick one up.
