Between July 19th and August 20th, check out our PC Builder, load it up with everything that would go into your back-to-school PC (or work, or gaming, or any other PC!) and share the link in the comments below. And be sure to tell us a little bit about your build-to-be!
After August 20th, we’ll be selecting one lucky winner to receive a $500 Micro Center gift card to get their build started before school begins!

Need a basic work from home computer that I can upgrade later to play games

I need a computer to help with my video editing and coding classes as well has a computer to run Adobe software. I also want it so I can play my favorite game titles. The balance between school and gaming would help me make it through my last year left of school and help me release stress through my last year. Lastly I would use this PC for my future job to help me succeed in my career and still play games years to come.

Honestly, my PC right now, while not terrible, is not at all prepared for what I have in store. I’m planning to have much to do with AI and things in the computer science field, and I feel as if my PC isn’t quite strong enough to make that work. Especially considering it’s a prebuilt from quite a while back. Of course, gaming is also a big thing for me, as it’s my way to relieve stress. The PC I made here is honestly a bit extravagant and I already own most of the accessories as I’ve been improving over the years, but I think it’s about time I finally change out the PC itself for when I finally head off to college.

I figured an ITX pc would be nice for portability, and I wanted it to be capable but not overkill.

I am a transfer student stepping into my first year at a University. The PC I have built is versatile for all my hobbies and essentials. I need a new computer since my current laptop is slowly fading away and I need it for work. I currently work for the University, approving employers to hire the Universities' students for jobs, internships, and fellowships. Beyond work, I would like to game a First-person shooter likes CSGO battlefield with high frames. I would like to capture gameplay and edit little montages that I make for my friends to look back on as memories. Lastly, I need a computer to record my guitar. I will be living on campus and having an amp is not an option. I plan to use an audio interface to record my guitar using guitar plug-ins. Thank you for your consideration.

I want a new PC so that I can use it for school work and gaming while I am at uni. Also I want to use it to edit videos and make 3d animation content and this PC would help with that. I also made it so that it uses mostly white components because I like the aesthetic of white colored builds.

Need a solid up-to-date PC that I can use while I learn to code in a bootcamp I am beginning in September. I built my first PC from parts I got from Micro Center about 7 years ago and haven't been able to update it since. I am beginning my career in coding in a few months and it would be an enormous help to win this!

I've always been a huge fan of gaming and I've been playing on a very "usable" laptop with a state of the art Intel HD 520 integrated graphics card. In short I have never seen 60fps except on YouTube. This is my dream build yes I went all out (hence why it is a dream build).

I love my current p.c. but its been with me thru high school and collage and got my degree with me, sadly its getting up there in age as I am currently presently surprised that's its still functional. I would use this build that I created for remote working with also getting more certifications, tho I would probably downgrade the gpu to a regular 2080 if that was an option as I really don't need that much gpu power for what I am doing but for this one to be as long lasting as my current one was/is I would likely need a powerful and/or a reliable card to run it into the ground in usage for over half a decade like the last/current one.

I could use a pc for gaming with the boys and something that is able to also handle my 3d modeling and coding classes. I went with an amd CPU, Ryzen 3600 I believe. It's always a good processor and will probably not be needed to be upgraded for a few years. The motherboard is pretty much the basic, cheap mobo. 4 ram slots, pcie, decent io ports.
For storage I went with a 120 gb SSD for PS4, and a 2tb hdd for bigger files from said school classes, and for games.
I selected the ram kit because my friend marched himself up to the micro center, bought that kit, and it's lasted for a while now.
GPU is a basic 1660 oc, it will also be good for a while in terms of relevance
Case, I went with Nzxt h510, never really can go wrong with Nzxt. Good, reliable products aren't cheap but do the job.
CPU cooling is a low profile noctua fan cooler. Noctua makes good products so that's why I chose that one.
Mouse mat and keyboard, mouse, headset are the ones I already have from my sad mid 2011 Mac mini that I play games on right now.

This would be a build so my son can play Minecraft with me. He has just started to learn to play the game using keyboard and mouse and I couldn't be prouder. He's the world's hugest Minecraft fan and he's currently using a tablet to play it so it's time he enjoyed the game at its fullest potential!

I picked these parts because it was all companies I trust and if I'm going to build a PC it's going to be from parts locally purchased. I prefer going to the store to pick up the parts for most things. This build will be for gaming and some virtualization.

For the CPU, I chose a Ryzen 5 since AMD CPU's are great for both Productivity and Gaming, which would be great for school.
For the Motherboard, I chose a Mini-ITX with built in Wi-Fi because if you are inside of a Dorm Room, you probably don't have a lot of space.
For the RAM, I chose 16 GB since it is cheap, and it's all you really need as of 2021.
For the GPU, I chose a 1660 Super because it can handle most games, as long as you don't plan up cranking the graphics.
For the Storage, I chose a 250 GB NVMe SSD for a boot drive, with a 2 TB Hard Drive for any games you might plan on installing.
Everything else that I chose was because it fit the specifications I was looking for with all of the other parts.

I just want to build a nice AMD Ryzen based gaming system that will allow me to play all the latest and greatest games at High to Ultra settings at 1440p without having to compromise anything. The system I built has an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x, ASUS Crosshair 8 Dark Hero, 32 gigs of G.Skill Trident Z Neo RAM, an ASUS Strix 3080 Ti OC, and a blazing fast WD_Black SN850 NVMe drive for storage. I picked a Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh case because it was reviewed by a trusted source as having excellent airflow. Unfortunately I couldn't find the CPU cooler I would actually want for this build in stock at the store I selected. But I would put a Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black on it rather than the low profile Noctua cooler I was forced to select to complete the build. Why is there such a severely limited selection of air coolers at the CA, Tustin store?

I am very excited to build my first PC. I am hoping that this PC will last a good 5-8 years for me to finish college and land myself a job. I will use this PC for school and gaming in my off time. If I have the chance or time, I may consider making videos and streaming. The link posted below is not exactly the same (but close enough) to the parts I already bought. The $500 will go towards the remaining Intel Core i9 10850K Comet Lake CPU and peripherals. (Currently playing the waiting game for a GPU)

Hello, I have worked with you guys before with buying labtop components and I would need a upgrade for my job. My job is coding video games and software and using blender to work on things which involves a beefy computer. This money will be saved up for this dream pc. Also when I am at the age to apply I plan on applying to work in micro center in Yonkers which would be a dream to me. This computer would also be for the bois playing cod and Minecraft. I'm looking to buy a machine for options trading using Think or Swim. ToS is written in Java and not particularly memory efficient, so CPU clockspeed and memory speed is very important. I chose an available GPU in the build, but in reality, I would choose a spare GTX 1070 I have for the build. My fantasy setup would drive two 4k TV's via HDMI 2.0 and a 1440P monitor off of DP.
