Cannot switch to MS account on new machine

New to this forum. Not sure where to post this:

Got a new machine from Micro Center and it's great. I am migrating stuff from my old machine to my new machine. I have a Microsoft account.

On my new machine I want to sign in with my Microsoft account. When I boot up the new machine it signs in on a local account automatically. I have tried Settings > "Sign in with a Microsoft Account Instead" and it does not accept my Microsoft account password on the second password screen.

How do I change from my local account on the new machine to my Microsoft account on my new machine?

You're on the correct path with choosing the "Sign in with a Microsoft Account instead". The second password should be for your local user password. If you don't have a password on the local account, just leave it blank and hit "Ok" or press "Enter".

Thanks, TSMikeW! I may try this in the future with that account but my solution was to just make another User Account and give it Admin Privileges.
