monitor Resolution on new build gaming PC

Hi, my son and I just built his gaming PC, and we are having trouble figuring out how to set up the monitor properly so that we get maximum resolution. Currently, Windows 10 is just allowing us to use the Microsoft generic monitor driver, which leaves us with some pretty bad resolution. I tried downloading the Asus monitor drivers, but my computer won’t recognize them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'd strongly recommend you download the correct graphics drivers for your computer. This will be different depending on the dedicated graphics card that you have in your computer.

If you have an AMD graphics card, these can be found here: https://www.amd.com/en/support

If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, you can find them here: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

Make sure you have drivers up to date for your specific video card, but also make sure you’re plugging your monitor into the video card and not directly into the motherboard. What kind of system specifications did you build?
