Problem using PBP on Asus XG49VQ 49" Curved Monitor

Hello,

So I am trying to create two 16:9 screens side by side using PBP. I want to use my computer for one input and a Nintendo Switch for the second input. The problem is that the Switch displays the correct aspect ratio, but the computer is still displayed in the original 32:9 aspect ratio. I tried adjusting the aspect ratios manually and the zoom, but all it does is make the screen more square. I have a black bar above and below the picture (which is likely due to the 32:9 ratio) and I cant figure out how to raise it vertically. I've had this monitor for 2 days and I love it, but I'm hoping I can find a fix for it rather than having to return the monitor.

Any help is appreciated!

    Hello @ReaperRuler

Thank you posting on the Micro Center Community! I see you are having an issue with this monitor and having it split to two 16:9 resolutions and your computer not recognizing that.

After a google search, I found one reddit thread that was experiencing this issue as well, with the solution being ASUS swapping the monitor out and the idea of a possible bad panel. I also found a reddit thread by you as well haha.

I did find some people suggest a setting on the Graphics Card that is overriding that Aspect Ratio, but this was for an AMD Card and the user never reported back his findings on if this worked or not. There is another post in that thread with instructions on getting his to work on an AOC Ultrawide; https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/gaxfcl/ultrawide_49_aoc_black_bars_top_and_bottom_in_pbp/. You can try giving that a shot.

Something I also recommend trying is using a different source than a computer, like a cable box or another game console just to make sure it pulls up fine with the Switch.

Thank you for your help. I'll try and see if that will work for my computer. I'm running a Surface Book, so I dont have many customizable options lol. I would rather exchange the monitor at micro center since that is where I purchased it versus getting a new one from asus, but whatever works I guess

    Hey @ReaperRuler

If you can provide your reference number, I'd be happy to look into your purchase to see if it is still inside the return/exchange period.

From what I can tell of @TSPhillipTs response, that was a solution from a similar experience that he'd found elsewhere. Did you try @TSPhillipT other recommendation, overriding the aspect ratio?

My purchase SHOULD be within the return/exchange period since I just bought it on 3/20 and bought the 2 year protection plan, but I havent had a chance to try the other fix yet. I will try it this weekend and then go from there. As I said, I'd rather bring it back to you guys since I bought it from you and just get another one versus having to send it back to Asus (if thats even possible).

@ReaperRuler just chiming in. If you have the reference number off the receipt we can verify the eligibility on the exchange. If you do not have the receipt, let us know and we'll email you directly asking for more information allowing us to find your GPU purchase.

Thank you but my GPUs are nicely bonded inside my surface book that I got several years ago and not from you lol. My purchase recently from you has been the monitor, not the GPU

@ReaperRuler Oh okay. For the monitor when was purchased? Was it purchased 30 days from today March 25th? Does it have any damage to the monitor and do you still have the monitor packaging box?

The monitor was purchased on 3/20. It currently has no issues. I was able to fix the problem I had with it thanks to the post linked by @TSPhillipT . Thank you for your help though!
