pc help

so my sister's birthday is coming up in a bit and i remember her asking for a pc. So i was wondering, how much would a basic pc build cost? just a basic office pc, i was thinking probably around 300 is that possible? if not i have old pc's i got from school and i was wondering if i can't build a new one. can i just swap the old pc into a new micro atx case with some new parts?

Thank you for posting on the Micro Center Community! It is definitely a cheaper alternative to swap parts from an old PC to a new mATX case and replace outdated parts with new parts. Unsure if you need a monitor or peripherals, and Windows 10 can be pricy for a budget build.

If you know what parts you have to transfer, we can see what we can do with a build to make it around 300$. Would be good if you could transfer the motherboard and HDD/SSD as that should carry your active version of Windows 10.

as of right now what i currently know is that I would need a power supply, hard drive for more storage, i would prefer to use the same motherboard and cpu but if i can't are their any motherboards and cpu's great for basic office builds? since i know you guys do the motherboard and cpu combo deal

@Cesarito32 just chiming in. A new motherboard and cpu will cost more than $300. And if need MC to install the new parts into the old case may run $149.99 to $199.99. If wanting to stay in the range of $300 or a little more, MC does have refurbished computers running for $300 or less. The intel 5s cpus are good processors. See link below, these refurbished computers would be good "surf the web", "read email only" type computers.

so if i'm swapping the parts into a new case, i need a new power supply that would fit the case, but I don't want to give it to much power, are there any power supply's that will fit a mini or mid tower case that's not too powerful for the other parts?
