Custom Build with Outside Part
Can Micro Center still build a custom PC if one of its parts was not bought at Micro Center? For example, if everything except a RTX 3080 was bought at Micro Center, given how difficult it is to find one of those video cards. If so, would there still be an option to purchase a warranty based on assembly? Thank you.

That's a great question.
We would be able to offer an individual parts warranty on everything excluding the GPU, since the GPU was not purchased with us, we would not be able to offer a BYO warranty or service plan on the full build. Due to this there not being a full BYO warranty on the build, labor would not be covered on any repairs or rebuilds.

Thank you so much for your help. I heard from someone who got their PC completely built by Micro Center that the store was guaranteeing new graphic cards with every custom PC. For example, he said that if I ordered a custom PC with a 3000 card MC would take those from the truck deliveries before anyone else has a chance to buy them for single use (as not part of a custom PC build).
Is this true? If so, is this a policy at all Micro Centers or it is unique to some? Thanks again.

I'm afraid this isn't true. It's not possible to pay for an RX 6000 or RTX 3000 series GPU ahead of time. The purchase must be made in the store.

Hi Landshark, I visited my local Micro Center today and I was advised that if I want a new PC with a 3080 and not just the GPU itself I should buy a pre-built model they offer, specifically this one: https://www.microcenter.com/product/629573/powerspec-g467-gaming-computer
1) Should that be sufficient if I want to edit 4K video and also have 4K gaming capacity should I want it?
2) I do plan to ask them to upgrade the RAM from the 32 GB offered to 128. Do you think I am still saving money getting the Pre-Built upfront? It may be a moot point because of how difficult it is to get the 3080 by itself.
3) The specs page for the above model says there are two internal hard drive bays. That means I can add two additional HDDs or DVD drives, correct? (Sorry if it is a dumb question--see my username). Will installing a SATA drive be quite easy to do myself? I am looking to install a disk drive for long term backup. I have installed batteries and RAM on laptops, so I can do some things.
Also, 4) is it worth taking up an expansion bay on a DVD drive or would a USB powered version be sufficient? This pre-built model only comes with a 1 TB HDD which for 4K video editing is not that big. I would much rather install an extra solid state and extra internal HDD in the expansion bays.

It comes out to the same price practically.
You shouldn't have any issues gaming or editing with this computer.
The computer can go to 128GB of RAM but honestly 32GB is typically more than enough for most users. You can always add that later.
Yes, it does have 2 open 3.5" drive bays, so you can put any 3.5" hard drive in there, or a 2.5" SSD w/ an adapter to hold the drive. All you need to do is put the drive into the slot, run a cable from the power supply (should be tied up from the power supply inside the case), and run an additional separately purchased SATA cable ($2 or $3) from the hard drive to the motherboard.
A DVD drive would take up a 5.25" bay so you cannot use it in the 3.5' slot. You'd have to go with a USB one.

Thank you, Ian, for the detailed help. That installation sounds simple enough. I have a few questions about picking a monitor but I will do that in the monitor forum (unless it is fine to do so here).
I did not see a DisplayPort listed on the Specs page but it should have one, correct? Is there some way to find out what ports this model has besides the USBs, such as HDMI?
Also, I want to install a firewire card that uses PCIe for video conversion. That should also be quite easy for me to do myself, right?

The graphics card has 3 DisplayPorts on it.
There are multiple open PCI x16 or x1 slots on the motherboard so you should be able to install that without issue.

Thank you. I see that the SSD is connected via an M 2 slot. Does this PC have any other M 2 slots or would I have to install a second SSD through the PCIe slot?

There's a second m.2 slot or you can use 2.5" SSDs w/ SATA cables in the 3.5" slots with adapters to hold the drives into place, such as https://www.microcenter.com/product/451220/sabrent-25-ssd---sata-hard-drive-to-desktop-35-bay-converter

Thank you. One more thing--with this computer how do I research if I want to upgrade the RAM? Normally I would search by the brand, but Crucial does not list Powerspec as a company. Do I go by the CPU or motherboard?
