Feeding mechanism on printer not working - HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw
I tried the recommended steps online to initiate a fix for the feeding mechanism on my printer. I bought it at Microcenter in 2011. I know it's 10 years old, but that's the only thing wrong with it! Can I bring it in to the store in Tustin and get it fixed please? Thanks!

Hello @Helenanna and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. Unfortunately we do not have the expertise or skills to repair printers. Are you getting an error message when its not feeding in the paper?
-
No, it's mechanical. The device that pulls paper into the copier or scanner is not functioning anymore. It just quit. I went online and found suggested steps to take, tried it, but it didn't work.
-
@Helenanna okay understood. It may have functioned as long as it could. Unfortunately it may be time for a new HP printer. Ten years of usage is a good length for an HP printer.
-
Actually it does give an error message: Document Feeder Mispick. Try again. It hasn't healed itself in the meantime/last time I tried. You might be right, but what a drag! Another $500 or so for this, and the rest of the printer works fine.

HP does list some options on their website for possible troubleshooting for this issue and model, you can give them a try: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-m1536-multifunction-printer-series/3974271/model/3974278/document/c02713441

Your printer likely needs a new set of rollers. These are the rubber circular objects inside the printer and trays that are supposed to grab the paper and guide it through the internal guts of the printer. You can see the "pick up roller" in this video for your printer model:
Basically, the rubber surfaces of the rollers wear out over time and no longer grab the paper well enough to make sure it moves properly through the guts of the printer, causing jams, errors, etc. Roller kits are typically available online for $30 or less and are moderately difficult to replace on your own. Your printer may work just fine again if you replace the rollers.
A warning, however: replacing printer parts is a slippery slope. If simple roller replacements do not fix the issue, I recommend calling it quits and getting a new printer. By the time you get new rollers, a maintenance kit, and a new fuser, you are already at 75% of the cost of a new printer. Try new rollers, see if it works, go from there.
