You’ll save time and feel confident that our team securely migrated everything you need. Note: This service copies files only, not programs like Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop.
Data Recovery Diagnostics If important files have been deleted or overwritten, or if your computer has been damaged, we can help. Our team will analyze your hard drive to determine the best approach for recovering your data. Our service technicians always try to perform the data recovery process in the store, with our data recovery software.
Data can be recovered onto another drive which can be supplied by you, or can be purchased at the store.
If the drive has major physical damage, or the drive controller is damaged to the point where we cannot access the data with our in-store tools, we can ship it out to our data recovery lab. They can perform a more extensive recovery process, which may involve dismantling some parts in clean, laboratory conditions to gain access to the drive.
In-store Data Recovery Services Recover data from your failing or damaged hard drive with our In-Store Data Recovery Service. Some data recovery problems we can assist with include:
Dropped Hard Drive Data Recovery
Read / Write Heads Failure
Hard Drive Not Detected
Power Loss / Surge Data Recovery
Beeping Hard Drive Data Recovery
Corrupted Data Recovery
Accidental Reformat Data Recovery
USB Device Not Recognized (for external hard drives)
Deleted Data Recovery
System Restore Data Recovery
Deleted Texts, Photos, and Contacts RecoveryIf we cannot recover your data at the store, our advanced data recovery service is the next step. We send the drive to our offsite lab service where advanced tools and software are used to recover data from your damaged or failing hard drive. Recovered data is copied to a new hard drive.
- Phone and Tablet Data Recovery *Functional* If important files have been deleted or overwritten on your iPhone or Android phone or tablet, they may be recoverable by our certified lab technicians. Your device is sent via secure carrier to our lab which use proprietary tools and software to attempt to recover the data and transfers it onto a new USB flash drive. Some devices require a cloud account to be created as part of the backup and recovery process, so SMS messages, contacts and other data can be restored onto a new device. Both your device and USB flash drive with recovered data are sent back to the store, where we will alert you to come pick them up.
Phone and Tablet Data Recovery *Non-Functional* If your Apple iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet has been damaged and important files have been deleted or overwritten, they may be recoverable by our certified lab technicians.

Both your device and USB flash drive with recovered data are sent back to the store, where we will alert you to come pick them up.
- RAID NAS Data Recovery If you’ve experienced a drive failure or data corruption in your RAID array or Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, our advanced data recovery service can be used to access the data on the drives and recover it.
The drives are sent via secure carrier to our lab which use proprietary tools and software to attempt to recover the data on the failed drive, then rebuild the array. This two-step process can potentially recover data on a variety of different RAID array setups (0, 1, 5, 6, 10) and is far more successful at recovering data than many of the standard data recovery tools included with the RAID array solution. In addition, if the RAID controller is faulty, many of the tools won’t work, as they cannot access the drives anymore.
Whether the drive has physical damage, read/write head damage, bad sectors, or the drive controller has failed, our RAID data recovery service can recover the data and rebuild the RAID array for you.
Our NAS data recovery services are available for a wide range of devices including Synology, Buffalo TeraStation, QNAP, WD My Cloud, Seagate, Iomega, Asustor, Netgear ReadyNAS, Zyxel, and many others.
Flash Drive Physical Recovery If your USB flash drive, SD or Micro SD card shows as device not recognized, has water damage, or important files have been deleted or overwritten, they may be recoverable by our certified lab technicians.
The USB flash drive or SD card is sent via secure mail to our lab where they use specialized tools and software to attempt to recover the data from the flash memory and transfer it onto a new USB flash drive or SD or micro SD card. Both the damaged and replacement devices are sent via secure mail back to the store, where we will alert you to come pick them up.

Hi, I just have a quick question: if I want a Tier 1 (re)build service, could I just drop off all my components and case? I might not have all my original packaging for the parts, and the pc is almost complete.
-
Hi @CloudEsper! Yes, as long as you have all the required parts to complete your build, we'd be happy to offer the Tier 1 service for you.
-
I decided to have Micro Center Build my Lilian Li gaming machine ( In stead of buying another Dell computer) and after 4 weeks the computer stop working. I brought the computer back to Micro Center to see if they could fix the issue or tell me to buy new parts. The question is.... how long will they keep the computer before I hear anything. 6 days and no text messages about my computer. Any long time customers with suggestions? I'm willing to buy new parts so I can get my computer back.!!!!
-
Hi @Scripps I've replied to your other posts about this issue.
Please check your inbox about this, I've emailed you.
-
For the custom builds, what is Microcenter's policy if they're unable to verify the inter-compatibility of certain parts and other hardware needs to be purchased? (I.e. a mounting bracket for a CPU cooler).
Also, I believe it was mentioned that there may be an additional charge for using parts not from Microcenter. What parts might incur that additional charge?
-
I'm not sure that I fully understand your questions, but I'll try to answer them as I understand them. :) Please let me know if I can provide any clarity!
For custom builds, if you've purchased a part that is dependent on another part, in most scenarios, we would contact you to let you know about the concern. We'd offer our recommendations to correct the concern. Either to purchase the additional part or to purchase alternative parts that would not require the additional part.
I'm not aware of any additional fees or charges that would occur for using parts not purchased with Micro Center. However, we would not cover the part if it malfunctioned beyond our normal support guidelines.
-
That answered my questions, thanks! I couldn't find the section where I thought it said there were additional fees regarding parts purchased outside of Micro Center, so it's likely a misunderstanding on my part.
-
Glad that helps you!
No worries, good questions!
-
I can find no way to contact your service department to ask this question. You really need a phone number for your stores! This is poor customer service.
Can your service department repair a Microsoft Surface Dock (the original one, not the Dock 2)? If so, is there a minimum charge? The problem is intermittent failure to recognize an external monitor (plugged into a DisplayPort port) . It's out of warranty (purchased from Amazon in 11/2018).
*** Edit ***
Was able to chat using Chrome. Micro Center only services desktops and laptops in their stores, so my dock will probably need to go to Microsoft if they even still support it (and if it's cost-effective).
