Sufficient Power Supply for Potential Upgrade?
Hello everyone, below is my current setup and what I'd like to upgrade to in parenthesis. Is my current EVGA 650 GQ Gold+ PSU going to struggle? I will also need a new CPU fan. I game at 1440p and do not OC. I do not need this rig for productivity. If I need to upgrade my PSU, I am thinking I may as well start a new AM5 build. Any thoughts here?
CPU: Ryzen 3700x (want to upgrade to Ryzen 5800x3d)
Motherboard: x570 Aurus Elite
RAM: Crucial Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3600mhz
GPU: MSI NVIDIA RTX 2070 TriFrozr (want to upgrade to ASUS DUAL RTX 4070)
Case: Fractal Meshify C
Storage: 1 TB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe SSD
PSU: EVGA 650 GQ Gold +
Monitors: Dell 27'' 1440p
Cooling: Default Meshify C Case Fans and AMD Wraith Prism (need a recommendation for 5800x3d)
Operating System: Windows 10 64-Bit

No, not at all. RTX 2070 draws about 215 under max load, the 4070 is a little lower at around 200W. With the X3D CPU's VCORE is generally low to avoid potentially damaging the cache compared to other CPU's in the same family. Expect a 5800X3D would draw maybe 80W at load. Socket power cap on AM4 is 142W. Your system is probably going to max around 330W under a max load stress test, slightly over 50% load on the PSU. Your loads while gaming would be quite a bit lower.

Thank you so much, that is great to hear. Would you happen to have a CPU cooler recommendation?

I'd think of this offhand: https://www.microcenter.com/product/649396/deepcool-ak400-performance-cpu-cooler-black
It'll do the job. They're claiming 220W TDP, CPU is 105W TDP. Doesn't use a lot of power, doesn't generate a lot of heat.
