This is the latest BIOS for this model that has a BIOS setting for the Intel Default power limits. This can be used on any of our systems using the MSI Pro Z690-A WIFI DDR5.

    Instructions to flash.

    1. Press 'Del' on startup to enter the BIOS.
    2. Press Ctrl+Alt+T and confirm to enter Advanced Flash Mode.
    3. Select the BIOS file and confirm the flash.
    4. Once the flash completes, re-enter the BIOS and enable XMP.

  • Just got an error message that this file is not an MSI file

  • Is there a reason why the file from MikeW is different than the one from the MSI website?  I noticed the newest one from MSI, is still in beta.

MSI changes the model when we ask for bug fixes and apply customizations. That's why the special flash process through the Advanced Flash Mode is required. There's no reason you can't run the latest MSI BIOS though. Just make sure to set your fan controller header to PWM, or it'll run full speed on the default DC mode. That's fixed in our custom BIOS.

  • I've got a year old G472 and am having a lot of issues with high CPU temps and crashing games/apps. I've done some digging and it appears that I'm experiencing a known instability issue with 13/14th gen Intel CPUs. My latest crash (a new "Unreal"-based game called VEIN…crashes on startup) led me to this page: https://www.radgametools.com/oodleintel.htm

So a quick search on this forum brought me to this discussion about the latest BIOS for the mobo in my system. Anyhoo, I'm about to try this BIOS flash and I just want to confirm a couple things:

    1. that this BIOS update is the latest and works with the G472 mobo (pretty sure it's the same one as the OG poster)
    2. if I run into serious trouble and can't boot or something of that nature that I am still covered under warranty (I bought the 2 year extended)

Lastly, assuming the flash works fine, do I need to make any further settings changes to fix this voltage/power issue or did you folks already do that?

    Thanks!

    Paul

    1. Yes, AMG will work. It's the MSI Pro Z690-A WIFI DDR5 board.
    2. If you have an extended warranty that would be covered. Keep in mind the board has a flashback feature, so you can typically recover from a bad flash anyways. You can flash the board without a CPU installed.

After you flash, go to the OC tab and check the CPU Cooler Tuning, set the Intel Default Setting. Also, remember to enable XMP.

  • Thanks, Mike. Already did the flash without any trouble and tested some problematic games and so far no crashes and lower temps too.

Cooler Tuning was definitely set to the Intel Default but I'm fairly certain XMP had changed to Disabled but I'll have to back into BIOS and verify.

    Cheers!

  • i left a comment that seems to have been lost. I did flash the bios but that made the system unbootable. I had to reinstall windows. As far as I can tell, it is working fine now.

Did you enable RAID? That would cause it to crash on startup if the BIOS defaulted back to AHCI. But you can fix that by going into safe mode once.

  • Ni change it RAID or any bios setting, After getting the system workin again U enable XMP and set the fan to PWM

Strange. Let me know if you have any other issues.
