Passed internal validation. Waiting on MSI to send the custom BIOS.
-
@PowerSpec_MikeW same for the g914? Looking to address the pci throttling issue. Thanks!
-
Yes, same BIOS for the G911, G912, G913 and G914.
-
Based on 2AA3.
-
Thanks!
-
Double checking. This is for the G911 as well?
-
hello,
Is there bios update for G730? If there is, can you point me to where I can download the latest? Do I use Q-flash or Q-flash plus to update it? After I update it, do I need to re-adjust any settings like fan curve etc.
thank you. -
Good on the 911, 912, 913, and 914.
-
F10 is attached. Just use Q-Flash.
-
any adjustments I need to do after updating? like fan curves etc.
-
@PowerSpec_MikeW
i got error bios while trying to q-flash the bios you linked. I put the F10 file on a fat32 usb stick by itself. It went through the verification process at first, reboot and I got bios error. And nothing happened. I was back to main page. With the old bios version f7 but without the xmp1 profile selected. So I tried to “load default (f7). Now the whole bios is locked up. Advice pls. -
What was the error? Clear CMOS.
-
After the verification success, it listed F10 as the new bios it was going to update to, reboot and went through verifying again and something incorrect bios popup. Then nothing happened. I was back to main page. When I tried to load default, whole thing froze. So after a bit, I just power down with power button. After power up, I was able to boot up successfully with F7 bios version with no xmp1 selected. I manually selected it. So thats where I am at.

I have the G757 and I am currently running the F7 BIOS. When I try to update to F10 I get an error in Q-Flash. When I try using the BIOS from the Gigabyte website I get an OEMID mismatch error. Has there been a resolution on how to update the BIOS?
-
Try flashing to the F10 BIOS using the flashback feature of the board, instead of flashing via the BIOS.
-
Working on F11b, should be available in a few days.
-
heya @PowerSpec_MikeW, Thank you for working on new version. I have a related question. When I bought G730 (AMD system) about a month ago, the bios that came with it is F7 and ram profile XMP 1 was already selected. Now I am always under impression that AMD system uses EXPO, Intel uses XMP. So I switched to EXPO and the system wouldn't post. I had to manually jump the pins to clear CMOS in order to post again. So I am currently still using XMP profile on AMD system. So the question is when the new bios is ready and I am successfully flash it, do I enable XMP or EXPO?
-
EXPO should be fine on the new BIOS. There shouldn't be any drastic differences between EXPO and XMP. They basically do the same thing.

@PowerSpec_MikeW Finally got around to update the bios. Is there any settings i need to do after update. Load defaults, fan curves, etc?
-
I always load defaults and have our production teams do so to be safe. Then enable XMP/EXPO. We set everything as a default.

Hello! I just picked up a G758 today after returning my first purchase (hardware had exploded during shipping it seems!). I wanted to flash my BIOS to the manufacturers to get a lot of the exploits/issues resolved that have been patched over the past year by them. Would using flashback be fine with that? Assuming all the normal precautions are taken as with any flashback.
I dont intend to do any overclocking or anything fancy like that. Also if I ever need to reinstall Windows would using windows official image be safe too?
Thanks again, you guys are awesome! :D

@PowerSpec_MikeW
I have a G911 from last August, currently on the 2A05 version of the BIOS. From reading comments above, it appears Microcenter customizes the BIOS for use in your prebuilt systems. After purchase, you only recommend enabling EXPO and getting updates from MC, not the motherboard manfuactuer (in my case, the MSI MAG 870E Tomahawk WiFi). Correct? I see MSI has an update from April 15…2AB0…
Also, are programs like FanControl safe for use (within reason)? I'd change fan curves in the BIOS but for the life of me I can't figure it out. -
I actually just finished a new BIOS for this board today.
Nothing major there. PXE issue and the restore on AC loss feature. Are you using either of those?
You can try it, I don't see any issue. Have you tried the fan control software in MSI Center?
-
@PowerSpec_MikeW , no PXE or AC loss issues. I have tried MSI Center but never got to try the fan control portion of it because I found that it contributed to stuttering in Digital Combat Simulator in VR, I guess taking up priorities in the background.
Since posting I've downloaded Fan Control and installed it (it appears all the fans are daisy chained except the CPU fan) and created some basic controls to curb heating during intensive CPU/GPU use. Spent a few hours today and it was fine. I'll keep an eye on it though. -
Oh very cool! What are the differences between MSI's manufacturers BIOS and PowerSpecs? I flashed the manufacturers as I was worried about security exploits being patch and AGESA 1.3, etc.
-
A few defaults. Mainly we don't enable the MSI driver auto installer. Wake from sleep USB. We enable PXE for factory deployment. SMBIOS data is customized, which allows us to target the systems with driver updates.

I have a G757, with a gigabyte b850 gaming wifi 6 MB. my bios is F5a GA2. Do i need to update, and if so, HOW? step by step. As if i am a small child
-
You don't need to update if you're not having any issues with the system.
- Extract file to a flash drive.
- Reboot and enter the BIOS by tapping 'Delete'.
- Press F8.
- Press 'Enter'
- Select the BIOS file and confirm flash.
