G464 saga continues....
purchased G464 and decided to upgrade to windows 11 which was not the best idea.
then crashes within couple minutes after the boot. took it to the store, they found memory, video cards are bad. swapped them out under warranty.
it was working fine. couple days later, started to random reboot here and there. i wasn't even playing game. just watching youtube videos and using chrome for browsing.
so far i was able to capture two different error messages.
Fast Eresource precondition violation
Memory Management
Previously had issue with windows 10 but found out that i need to just install DRIVER ONLY for video card 5700XT. now it is 6750XT, i wonder i have to do the same again.

The BSOD's you mentioned are typical to see with unstable memory, but given the card was a factor before, I would look at something that covers both. In your BIOS, do you have options for Above 4G Decoding and Resable Bar? If so, are they enabled?
-
@TSMikeW those were both disabled. so just enabled them. we shall see!
-
I was more expecting they were enabled. Enabling those if it's a memory issue, should exacerbate the issue. It'll give us a better idea of where to look at least.
-
@TSMikeW after the change, thought it was fixed because i haven't experienced the random reboot. spoke too soon.
just now i experienced another failure with different message.
Pool corruption in file area
-
Stop code, this is just random instability. It's intermittent enough to make it very difficult to diagnose. How long were you able to use the PC before this latest BSOD?
-
@TSMikeW that would be the same day we left last comments here, so from 9 am on 8/18 to noon 8/22. 4 days...
-
How frequent is the crashing typically?
-
@TSMikeW at least once a day. i am not a hardcore gamer, just watching youtube and browsing. that's all. that's why it frustrates me the most..
-
Almost sounds like it could be an idle voltage issue, where the CPU is intermittently losing power when it's idle. Is there a time when you're on the PC for a significant period of time and you're pretty much guaranteed to experience a crash?
-
@TSMikeW i am not so sure. crash happened sometimes within couple hours or after 4 hrs, or 7,8 hrs of use. no pattern.
-
Can you post bluescreenview screenshots and screenshots of event viewer, administrative events at the time of the last crash?
-
-
The BSOD indicates RAM, It's unstable but it's on the edge. Lets work that angle. Please run CPU-Z and screenshot the memory and SPD tabs.
-
@TSMikeW they have replaced memory when they replace the graphic card
-
IMC's another component related to memory that rarely fails. Lets drop the memory frequency to 2400 in the BIOS, don't change anything else. We'll give it a day and see if it's stable. Could be the IMC's unstable on the XMP profile.
-
@TSMikeW it was working fine for few days without crash. Then today it crashed. Remembered what you said, so changed frequency to 2400. When it boots, just black screen. Nothing shows.
-
Clear CMOS by shorting either pins or removing the battery for 5 seconds. Let it boot, after that, load your optimized defaults and load your XMP. See if you can get back into the OS.
-
@TSMikeW i tried to clear cmos by poppig the battery for more than 5 sec. still black screen.
-
What are the debug LED's showing you?
-
@TSMikeW had no time to check and diagnose with it, so took it to the stroe.
-
Hopefully they'll be able to catch the instability to troubleshoot. Let me know what they're able to to tell you.
-
@TSMikeW took over 3 weeks to get it back, case replaced, cooler replaced, what else.. it looks totally new desktop now.. haven't put it up on the desk yet. we shall see..
-
@TSMikeW first day reusing desktop. Already two random shutdown.
-
Just happened again now, 9/27/2022 7:51 am east coast time
-
Looks like the same random BSOD's we were seeing before. Were you provided with a full list of what was replaced at the store?
-
@TSMikeW not on the paper, but txt message said, case swapped, memory controller test failed, pump is clicking. both should've been replaced.
-
@TSMikeW just went out to walk the dog, of course desktop went out again. looked into the event viewer and detail as below.

Memory controller test failed, in that case the CPU should of been replaced if they're confident it's the controller.
-
@TSMikeW not sure they have swapped it
-
I would take it back in for service for the same issue in that case. If you have your SV number let me know. I can setup a contact via email and get that information from you, see more about what was done here.
