@PowerSpec_MikeW It happened again at 7:58 PM. I searched for events from 7:50 to 8:00 PM. You can see the Kernal Power 41 at 7:58:51PM. Can you look at this?

@PowerSpec_MikeW it happened again and so I am sending the latest. It was 7:58:51 PM for the Kernal 41. I searched back to 7:50 PM and on to 8 PM and am attaching the report. Any thoughts? Sorry this came through twice.

The HyperVisor error isn't significant. It looks like it's just a reboot, which is probably a momentary loss of power. Board or PSU is where I would look if you've ruled out environmental factors.

@PowerSpec_MikeW Thanks. I have had such trouble since buying this machine. Thought it would be amazing but is actually worse than my 8 year old laptop with nothing more than integrated graphics. The strangest thing is that this issue ONLY happens while using an architectural 3D program or a massive Excel spreadsheet. Other PCs have zero issues with these programs. I have no idea how to check the PSU or Motherboard Is there any way I would qualify for Microcenter to do something with my machine?

@MrDrew Is your PC still in warranty? If so I would take it into Microcenter and have them look at it. If its out of warranty I would probably start with the PSU replacement if it was me.

@MrDrew With the excel spreadsheets. Is it prone to doing it while using it, or as it initially opens?

Your warranty is 1 year, looks like you're still inside of that.

Thank y'all. I will plan to take it in soon. With Excel, it is pretty rare—-usually the 3D arch program. On Excel, it is with a large XLSX during use that has a large master table (but not that large!) and quite a few associated pivot tables. I would not expect it to be a problem @PowerSpec_MikeW

The only thing I can see being stressed there is RAM or Cache. Still seems pretty random though.

@PowerSpec_MikeW Hello, I took the machine into Microcenter and they replaced the CPU and cooler (at least they said that verbally). I just fired it up and it is loud….fans. I recall you mentioned tweaking something in the BIOS for that. Can you please let me know the MSI setting?

In the BIOS go to Hardware Monitor. Set the header for your system fans to PWM.

@PowerSpec_MikeW Should CPU be DC? It is driving me crazy with the constant 3600 RMP under no load. Very loud. System fan is PWM and running at say 800 rpm which is fine. Temp source for that is now System vs CPU. I seem to recall there was also somewhere originally where I had to trick the BIOS to think it was tower cooler vs. liquid for it to quiet down. Am I way off base?

Something mine has done twice now and no clue why is fans will start spinning full blast reporting my cpu is 129 celcius. When I reboot I get bios warning to check CPU cooler. Only way I can fix it is unplug the pc. After I plug it back in everything is normal. I think the temperature is misreporting. No way CPU doesn't crash at 129 celcius. Under load when i test it it's usually in 80s.

CPU should be PWM as well, but it should auto detect that. AIO pump is full speed.

100c is max temp. If you're getting above that you should see a thermal shutdown. You're on the latest PowerSpec BIOS or the latest MSI?

It looks like Intel is rolling out another microcode update. Apparently this addresses the root issue. I hope the PowerSpec team incorporates this into another future Bios update (G443 here) and we can hopefully leave this all behind us.

Microcode 0x12B is the newest update the just released.

We'll be doing a new BIOS with the updated microcode as soon as our we can, once the BIOS is available. We'll have one for all boards that shipped with a 13/14th Gen Intel CPU.

Let me know what else you see. I have the system up now, I haven't seen what you're describing, but I'll relay it to MSI. Again, anything over 100c, system shuts down. We'll be doing a new BIOS fairly soon regardless. The MSI MPG Z790 Edge will be the first.

Its only happened twice separated by at least a month and different BIOS. I'll take a picture next time it happens.

Here's my snapshot (does this mean it is MSI vs PowerSpec?). Also attaching HW snapshot. Fans driving me nuts at 3200 RPM even at lowest temp. Smartfan will no longer control it based on the curve. Can't even turn it off manually.

Why is your PUMP 1 reporting 0 RPM? Any changes to the internal wiring? What mode is that header on?

I agree it is weird. I asked the guys at the Micro Center fix-it desk who worked on it and they said that is just how it is wired out of the box. CPU is the pump according to them. I guess they have all the other fans on the same header. I have not changed anything originally or now.

Radiator fans should be CPU. Pump is separate. You don't want any thermal control on the pump. But you wouldn't be running at 36c if the pump wasn't running. Can you take a picture of the top right of the motherboard?

@PowerSpec_MikeW Here ya go (pics of MB). They put in a new Lian Li AIO along with a boxed 14900K. I did get the RPMs down a bit to 2184 RPM for now by using L-Connect 3 app vs MSI MB…CPU

Different than our factory config, we don't use L-Connect 3 due to software signing issues. But if it's a newer Lian Li AIO it may require it.

If it's the same version it's shipped with I would bypass the L-Connect 3 entirely. It's not letting the board control it via PWM like it should. Was the crash a BSOD or CTD?

@PowerSpec_MikeW It was not BSOD. They never are. Reboots and comes back to login (I guess that is CTD?). With the MSI control and no L-Connect, the two fans on top of the AIO cooler radiators just run full speed 3000 RPM+ and never listen to the Smartfan curve in MSI MB, even on PWM. If connected correctly, it seems like PUMP should be 100% full speed but that's liquid right? Then the fans on top of it should be based on temp. Really hope that 'final' microcode update will end up helping.

@Mr Drew A CTD is when an application crashes and goes to the desktop. If your PC reboots its not a CTD. I think I would call the microcenter that did the repair and let them know its still happening. You could have them fix how the fan is wired as well but I still think your issue is a power supply issue. I would have them replace that part if it was me.

Yes, AIO pump should be on pump header which is full speed. It shouldn't be noisy. Radiator fans should be on CPU_FAN and it should control them fairly well. It should be a 4 pin fan connector, correct?

Sounds like just a restart which is a power or thermal issue, but lets make sure it's not BSOD'ing and you just can't see it.
