Need Help Choosing Parts

This PC would not be for gaming. I would be doing things like, spreadsheet, documents, general web browsing, I am a developer and use eclipse. My current system is old and starting to have issues running Windows 10. I plan to run Linux on this build because I'd like to get away from Windows. I already have a Logitech USB mouse and keyboard combo. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. I added a list of specific questions below.
- I am a first time builder so I'd like to know if I am missing any key parts that I should get.
- Do I need thermal grease or does in come with the CPU that I selected?
- The motherboard I selected supports hdmi, dvi-d and vga. Will the firmware support multiple monitors? Remember, I'm not going to be gamming. I just like the extra space of having 2 monitors. I would never go beyond 2 monitors.
- I plan to install linux. Will the motherboard I selected support windows 10 if I decide to switch? Some of the mother boards I saw referenced "Windows 10 Ready"
Thank You.

Hello @jbunke
You will need to change your processor out, the 3700X does not have an integrated graphics card so you wouldn't receive any signal from the motherboard. You will need to look at using a Ryzen 3400G or any Intel processor that doesn't have an "F" in the name as they all have integrated graphics.
You do not need thermal paste with the cooler, as it comes preapplied.
Your motherboard will support Windows 10 if you decide to switch to it.
Build wise, out side of that processor issue, everything does look good! -
Hi Phillip
Thanks for the feedback. Using the Ryzen 3400G I saw some compatibility issues with the motherboard so I ended up creating a new build. Decided to go with intel this time and that changed some things, but I think I have a better value with the intel build. Here is the build. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder-intel.aspx?load=a74c71d2-d9d4-45fa-a4ef-528b4d49084c
If someone could give it a second quick look before I pull the trigger on it, would be much appreciated.
Thanks. -
Build looks good all around, although you don't need a 650W PSU if you're just running the CPU and no dedicated GPU. If you plan on adding a GPU in the future then you can stick with that, otherwise a 400-500W PSU would be more than adequate for a setup like this.

Thanks Tony. I picked up the parts. Could someone please verify that I have the correct memory for the motherboard.

The one I bought showed up with the compatibility filter on, but according to the motherboard specs it specifies the following memory types:DDR4-2133
DDR4-2400
DDR4-2666
On the box the memory came in, it says DDR - 3200 -
Hello @jbunke
That 3200MHz on the RAM means that it can overclock to that, it will boot up at 2666MHz and you will need to go into the settings for your bios to set it at 3200MHz. -
Hello
I am in the middle of this build.

The motherboard has a 4 pin RGB header and the wires coming out of my case have one of the pin holes blocked off. Does this mean I will not be able to have the lighting? Is there anything I can change to make it work?
Thanks

There are different types of RGB cables, some manufacturers will use 4-pin and some will use those 3-pin versions. They're not interchangeable unfortunately, you need to match it to the correct type of header. So yes, the lighting won't work if you can't plug that cable in.

Thanks Tony, yes, exactly, one of the middle spotes is empty.
Not a show stopper. Just won't have any lignting. -
I have an old Hard Drive. (Western Digital WD2500JB)
I would like to know if I can add this to my build. https://www.microcenter.com/buildpost/4436/j-bunke-entrprises
I'm not sure if the Hard Drive works or not so I also would like to know if I could bring it in to be tested to make sure it still works.

That model is an IDE drive, so no, you won't be able to put it in your new PC and have it work. IDE drives haven't been sold for a long time (10-12+ years) nor do computers have ports for them anymore.
You can try a IDE to USB adapter to test the drive: https://www.microcenter.com/product/249962/vantec-sata-ide-to-usb-hard-drive-adapter
