Engineering Machine - not video gaming selection

Hello experts, I'm looking to build an engineering and geospatial information processing machine. It needs to process tens of millions of records every night. Right now, I'm running a i7 4GHz, 4 core machine, 16 GB RAM and it takes 2 hours to run each night. I need to be able to process 10x the current amount of data in the same amount of time. I don't need to visualize the data on the machine, just post it to the web for viewing/consumption. So, I was planning to go with the i9 processor, 32 GB RAM, but I'm wondering if the motherboards have their own video capabilities (albeit low end), and if I need to add the heat/consumption of a separate video card. Recommendations on making this machine fast for processing? Thanks, Joe

Hello @Joe_R
Thank you for posting on the Micro Center Community! Since this sounds like a lot of data parsing and analysis, more cores the better and an i9 CPU would provide more cores for sure. I would however, recommend a AMD Ryzen Processor, such as the 5900X or 5950X. Here is a good comparison between the i9 10900k and the AMD Ryzen 5900X. The 10900K has a slightly better single threaded performance that helps it with gaming but the 5900X has two more cores and helps process more data at a time.
In regards to picking out a motherboard, I recommend looking at the How to Choose Your Parts, Part 3: The Motherboard. It's a great thread describing what you need to think about then picking a motherboard. -
Thanks!
