Intel 11th Gen Processor Discussion and FAQ
Intel is poised to release a new the new generation of powerful processors and we are excited to see the performance that they offer.
On March 16th Intel announced the new 11th Gen desktop processors and shared some of their expected performance. Intel says the new processors, codenamed Rocket Lake-S, which have been engineered on the new Cypress Cove architecture will be pushing desktop gaming performance to its limits with up to 5.3 GHz clock speeds. They are introducing a new Thermal Velocity Boost feature which we guess will give additional clock speed based on the temperature of the chip. They also boast about new platform improvements that include base support of RAM up to DDR4-3200 and up to 20 CPU PCIe 4.0 lanes as well as integrated USB 3.2 support. Intel has also noted that the new 11th Gen will be able to take advantage of Intel Advanced Vector Extensions 512 (Intel AVX-512). Lastly, Intel announced that they have been working closely with more than 200 game developers to allow them to take advantage of these new changes.
We cannot wait to see how these improvements will affect the performance of these new CPUs. Intel announced that the release date for the 11th Gen processors is March 30th.
