My build was chosen with a mind on being able to perform now and last for a while without going full balls to the wall. I chose the i7 and z590 because I wanted PCIE gen. 4. The ram was chosen because it is good enough for now and once ddr5 launches, the user would be able to upgrade the ram if needed. The case was chosen because of its airflow characteristics. The GPU was chosen because in my opinion, its the best value for money right now. A m.2 was chosen as a boot drive and a hard drive was chosen as a games library. The AIO and fans were chosen for the rgb. The PSU was chosen as I trust it.
-
Went all-in in terms of specs, Ryzen 9 with a 3090, as well as a PSU and cooling that would be necessary.
-
The fact that I'm a programmer and a student influenced every part of this build. Starting with the case, the TUF tower is great because it has ample filtered air intake and carrying handles for portability (plus it looks awesome! function over form, but it's too good to discount). The i5-11400 is a great bang for the buck option and has discrete graphics in case you decide to go without a graphics card until those are reasonable again. 32GB RAM is a must for smoothly running some of my development tools along with a full dose of Chrome ;). The PSU is fully modular to prevent unnecessary cable buildup and I included a low-end GPU which could come in handy, especially when running a multi-display setup (I chose borderless displays for that reason too). I added a nvme drive onto the suggested SATA SSD to use as an even faster boot drive, and I chose a motherboard (and case) which support USB-C (aka. the future) and the latest gen WiFi. I also added 3 RGB fans to go along with the case fans and add a bit of bling to the build. The Noctua heatsink also made it in on virtue of it's amazing reputation for ease of installation (I've never built a PC yet, but i cant wait!) and quiet, efficient operation. And the last thing that is often overlooked because it's taken for granted: a copy of Windows 10.

Made this to be pretty budget, but with some decently high performance parts. Should be pretty upgradeable, too! I would build it, but part availability right now is terrible, lol. We will see. Good luck too all!
-
I chose these parts because they are zero compromises for workstation and gaming, and they would look pretty sweet!
-
I chose this build for content creation, gaming, and streaming, you can do it all in this build. It is future proof with the new Ryzen 9 5950x, and MSI Suprim X Trio 3080. Packed with 64gb of Neo Trident ram at 3600. 2TB of M.2 Storage and a 1tb Sata drive. NZXT Kraken Z73 for cooling and gif customization and the NZXT h710i case. Packed with NZXT 850 power supply and elgato 4k60pro capture card for games. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx

A lot of the bits I kept from my current build (Case/M.2/Ram) and upgraded pieces that have come out in the last year, plus added an extra 2.5 SSD. Sadly had to go with a different cooler and GPU that what I would have preferred (Air Cooling options are very limited, and of course no 3080.) Minus those two hiccups, very satisfied with what I was able to come up with, and the price as well. Add a couple hundred more for the GPU upgrade, but also would knock a few dollars off going with an air cooler over AIO.
-
I chose my components because not only will I not need to upgrade for several years but if I ever do want to upgrade then I have an easy upgrade path with the large case and a high wattage power supply. The way I themed my build was with a focus on white parts with some RGB thrown in for style. Overall I'd say this build is one of the best builds you can get for your money while also not being too insane with the pricing.
-
Im a vtuber that live streams on twitch and since we have no budget i made something that would let me stream with no issues what so ever and something that would let me make my own models on blender and unity with no issue as well. and if i ever had the money to build this for my self i would take it in a heart beat XD https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=5e306b2d-0d02-484e-9f7f-012b7886e365

Here is my new pc low budget pc.
-
A more mid-range build with available components, with integrated graphics good enough to play Rocket League!
-
Chose parts the will last me several years, 5900x being the best cpu that is possible to get hands on right now, and a decently powerful gpu that no one can get hands on to match. Have had good experience with gskill memory and asrock motherboards in the past so I went with that here. Finally for the power supply I chose a seasonic 750W for the efficiency as well as a little room to grow since their stuff can last a decade or more.
-
Hey, I kept essentially none of it, and pretty much just built the pc I dream of having, and I believe it'll look extremely clean, with the all white look and using corsairs rgb programs, making it a twinge of a blue light with the white would look so nice together. I picked the ryzen 7 3700x because its just a pretty good cpu to be honest, and i've used the asus rog b550-f before, so i went with a familiar option. The g-skill RAM was for the white + rbg look, same with the case, and i couldn't find the white version of the asus rog 3080, so i picked one that looked white enough. Everything else is pretty standard, and I would play games and stream on this beast! https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=3c4cc15e-0b3f-4ba2-8a4d-7d79c27623d9

I kept a lot of the components that were given originally, and supplemented with what I think are some of the best bang for the buck you can get. They're high performance enough that you don't have to think too hard about whether or not you can run something, but they won't make your wallet too unhappy.
-
Built for power and speed. I went this route because I do A LOT of video editing as well as gaming and this rig serves two purposes. Power and fun. I think the specs on this would be good for quite a while.

So this PC I just built. But I have like 6 1200 EVGA Plan. PS - I put into this system and one of my 1660 - We are waiting on getting the 30XX to add later. This PC was for family that wanted it for gaming and his to use for his company! Got the Motherboard and CPU as a bundle - saved $120 - And OS well download for $10 - Fun to build looking for the next PC to build just a pain getting parts!
-
This is just about the build I completed -sans the GPU of course.

I made the ultimate 1440p gaming and productivity build (As well as streaming!). It was fun not worrying about parts not being in stock or the budget of the total build! Of course this has lots and lots of RGB Because everyone knows that RGB boosts your FPS! I will explain why I chose which parts below. The total budget is $3400..which isn't the best but I was a lot of fun constructing this parts list. Of course you can switch out the parts, like instead of a 5900x you could get a 5800x, or instead of a 3080 you could get a 3070 or 3060ti. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=02049333-ec13-4735-a2d4-3e446d7bb18b
CPU: For productivity and gaming the 5900x is my choice. With 12 cores and 24 threads of Zen3 Cores on a 7nm process node, you will obliterate everything in your path. This CPU Destroys the competition in virtually every single way. This chip will run hot though, so be wary.
Storage 1: I chose the Samsung 980 1tb SSD. It is a very affordable SSD at 129.99. It has a read speed of 3400mb/s and a read of 3000mb/s which is blazing fast.
Storage 2: I chose a Seagate Barracuda 2tb 7200RPM HDD. It is just mass storage for games. The cache is pretty large so you might have fast loading times on the first game you install on it, so just putting that out there.
Motherboard: I went for an X570 for this one because if anyone wanted to upgrade the storage to gen4 NVME, as well as more SATA ports for more hard drives that don't interfere with the NVME speed. The actual motherboard in question is a MSI MPG Gaming edge WI-FI. It is 270 US Dollars and it looks good, has a great BIOS, and most importantly has RGB ;).
RAM: I Went with the 32GB G-Skill Trident Z Neo as you can overclock this RAM Fairly easily, and it is running 3600mhz at CL16 so Ryzen will love this memory.
Case: For the case I chose the Lian Li Lancool II Mesh, because it doesn't break the bank while having tons of airflow. I have this case personally and the Airflow is great. It also has panels at the back to hide all the cables when you are done building the PC
PSU: I chose the EVGA Supernova 850watt 80+Gold Power supply because it is efficient and having a lot of wattage should be good for our GPU.
GPU: Our GPU is the RTX 3080. I realized the chances of this being in stock is low, but if you get your hands on a 3080 or a 3070 would be good for this build. The 3080 is a 1440p monster playing games at 100+ FPS with Ultra settings. The 3070 is weaker but you should be able to get 80+FPS in all triple a titles with high to ultra settings.
CPU Cooling: Since we have a 5900x I decided to get a AIO Cooler because they are great for cooling Ryzen CPUs, although some air coolers from Noctua might match or beat this cooler. The cooler is the NZXT Z53 240mm. It has a led on the pump that shows the temperature.
Keyboard: For the keyboard I chose the GMMK TKL. It is TKL so for work you are not missing keys like del, and insert, but also while saving desk space for the mouse.
Mouse: I chose the Glorious Model O, because I have this mouse, and the sensor is insanely good, it is very light so if you play fps games it is suited for that.
Monitor: I chose the Acer - Predator XB271HU bmiprz because it is a 1440p 165hz, IPS, 1ms, G-Sync display. This is one of the best monitors out there for the price point of 400 dollars and I really think you'll enjoy it.
Headphones: I chose the HS70 Pro, because it is wireless, surround sound 7.1, and noise cancelling for only 100 dollars. This is one of the most if not the most bang for buck headphones out there.
RGB: There is a lot of RGB in this build. First we have 2 sets of Corsair LL120 fans for extra fans in a push/pull configuration if you like. Also we have two Corsair LS100 RGB Strips for the case because more RGB equals more FPS!
That's It! That's the whole setup. Thank you to Microcenter for hosting this competition. I hope whoever gets the gift card will be able to get the GPU of their choice.

An upgrade I'd like to do in the future.
-
Okay, I am not a dreamer that only looks at the best (overkill) parts. I look at average, what "most" people need and could afford. I threw this together but left out a lot of outside parts.
Latest AMD architecture but not the fastest, absolutely great value. Went M.2 for boot drive to save on cables. 3070 GPU which a great daily driver for MSRP. Upped the PSU to 750W for expandability. Nice 550 motherboard. 32GB ram because 16 is almost not enough soon. $1200 USD but not nearly everything or right for everyone. Just having fun and hoping for some Micro Center bucks. I certainly spend enough of my own.

This would be what I would order if I had all the moneys, this would be why it’s better. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=ffccab3a-6b44-4c35-894e-29f64957b327

I took your build, and turned it into a gamers computer. It can run 4K with at least 60 frames + enough ram to have at least 6 google chrome tabs running.
-
11th gen i-5, great bang for buck, and integrated graphics so you can work on the computer while you wait for your dreamy 3060 ti or 3070. A nice white with RGB theme, gotta have that Dave 2D teal. a 650 watt psu, plenty of wiggle room and will handle upgrades down the road. A fantastic Gen 3 500GB M.2 drive, with a 4TB HDD for all of the games. and last but not least a nice 240mm AIO to keep things cool (plus adds some RGB to the CPU, Since we all know that the more RGB you have, the faster the system will be).
-
ultimate content creator build! :)
-
i decided to go with a fairly powerful computer thats not only good for gaming but could also be used as a work computer if you're a cinematographer or photographer. This computer would also be quite good at streaming to twitch or youtube.
-
This was fun. I know we didn't have to keep it under $500 dollars, but in the spirit of the gift card I decided to make a five hundo build anyway. Besides, every computer parts picker site is full of 3k+ dream builds that of course we all want. This build is a decent starter computer that uses on board graphics from Intel while it waits for a video card to become available, or it can just take an older card that you may have lying around still. It's got 2x8GB sticks @2666 and M.2 storage which wasn't around when Comet Lake CPUs were first a thing.
Anywho, here it is: https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=d0982f44-c1ff-4bb4-a82f-d08571332b4e
Edit: Oh, and as an added challenge I only picked parts that were in stock at the Duluth, GA location which is the closest Micro Center to me.
