Some simple questions about buying computers

1. If the item is not on display do I have to ask clerk ?

The next two are from things I've read in reviews. I would rather know up front so that I don't pressure the store clerks.

  1. According to one review, if you ask you are allowed to go to tech support and boot the computer to make sure everything is fine.
  2. Also a review said that they bought a hard drive at the same time, they would install it for free. Is that true.
  3. If they do charge do you void your warrantee if you do it yourself. ( I've done it many times, just that "she who must be obeyed" will ffeak if I do it to a new computer. )
