I'm trying to find out what screws are used to mount the hard drive cage to the case in a Lian Li 205. I got the case second hand without any screws. I was able to get the others I needed, but not these. The manual doesn't specify what kind of screw it is, and I've tried other standard screw sizes and none work.

According to this article, the stock ones appear to be a thumb screw of some kind, but they aren't the standard ones used in a lot of ATX stuff: https://www.microcenter.com/tech_center/article/11394/how-to-locate-the-additional-drive-bays-in-a-lian-li-atx-205-case (check image under #7)

I would contact lian li, but their customer support is closed for chinese new year, and won't open until the day I'd like to have the screws...

Alternatively, a whole replacement drive cage kit would also work.

Hello @DanielH and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. Sorry for our late reply. What hard drive are you looking to install? A 2.5" drive or a 3.5 drive? Common mounting screws are the 6-32 type screws.

Hi, I was able to solve my problem. I wasn't trying to install either a 2.5" drive or a 3.5" drive, but instead I needed the screws to install the cage that HOLDS 3.5" drives to the Lian Li 205 case. As it turned out, standard thumbscrews were the right threading, but too short. I wasn't able to get ahold of them in time, however, I found there was a removable plastic vibration dampener on the bottom of the drive cage that I could remove. This didn't have and threading on it, as it sits between the case and the cage itself (which has the threading on it). After removing that, normal thumbscrews were long enough. So if anyone comes back with this same issue, either get longer thumbscrews in that standard threading, or remove the plastic portion of the drive cage that comes with the case.

@DanielH Glad you were able to remedy the screw issue. Thanks for sharing the workaround with removing the drive cage to enable the use of the longer thumbscrews on the Lian Li 205.
