Why is my system crashing and rebooting so many times
My friend and I have just completely built his new PC and have been able to boot and run OS (Windows 10 Home), but the whole system crashes randomly, at first it was a few seconds after sitting on the desktop or we would go to Edge and and open another tab, crash, or try a youtube video if we could get far enough and it would crash. Recently he has just been able to load games like Genshin and SMITE but he has suffered crashes mainly through Genshins cut scenes. We have the most recent BIOS for our motherboard, have tried reinstalling all hardware besides CPU, and have monitored temps on CPU and GPU and they are totally nominal, for instance, during SMITE, the gpu fans would remain off for most of the game because the card is kept so cool. But where we are at right now we think it is a GPU issue because when the crashes happen, the VGA light flashes for 2-3 seconds then the boot light flashes the same on our motherboard. We would gladly accept any thoughts on what is happening.

Mobo: B550m Pro Vdh Wifi
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
GPU: MSI Radeon RX 6600 Dual Mech 2X
RAM: Ballistix 3200 DDR4 16 GB (it's two sticks)
Storage: One Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB
Case: Lian Li Lancool 215
PSU: 650Watt Bronze 80+
OS: Windows 10 Home

Thank you for posting on the Micro Center Community! I see you are having issues with your PC Build under-performing and crashing. To check, have you updated your drivers for your graphics card? If you have, have you also tried using DisplayDriver Uninstaller to do a deep uninstall of the drivers so you can start fresh on those drivers again?

So we followed the link and instructions and it still crashes the same as prior to the reinstallation. He notices that it crashed almost instantly when trying to run Bannerlord. Do you have any other ideas?

Should give us a better idea of why you're crashing. Click on the latest BSOD if any are detected to display the involved files and drivers.

So I was messing around checking all of the drivers because its not the gpu drivers, and I ran a stress test on the Ryzen 5 5600x through the correct Ryzen Master software and it crashes every time I do a stress test. The temps don't go above 72 C and its longest duration during the test is 15 seconds. This picture was taken 1 second before crash.

The system isn't logging a crash. I assume the crash as you're describing it is a reboot which makes more sense here. This would tell us we're encountering an intermittent power loss under load and it's just causing the PC to reboot. I would troubleshoot it as a power issue. Verify there are no issues on the outlet your using. Swap out the surge protector or UPS to be safe. Then work your way to the board. Replace the power cable, then the power supply. Final culprit that's likely is the board itself, could be a faulty VRM.
The good news is you found a reliable way to test any potential fixes.

Also, are you using any kind of overclocking? Did you turn on PBO, etc, in BIOS? If so, try turning all that off.
One thing to definitely turn on is the memory XMP profile. Is that on?

We are not doing any overclocking of any sort and we have tried switching the 650W with and 850W gold 80+ and we switched outlets and surge protectors and the same thing happened. Also yes you are right I should identified this as a reboot problem instead of crash. I'm going to switch out the power supply cable and look into the VRM potential issue as well. I should have XMP profile turned on? Isn't that overclocking memory?

No, XMP does not overclock the memory, it just runs at what speed that memory is supposed to use. Otherwise it is probably defaulting back to the DDR4 base speed of 2133. So if you have DDR4 3200 and didnt turn on XMP, it's likely going only 2133 all this time. That might be part of the problem actually.
Oh, if you have 2 memory sticks check what slots they are plugged into because if there are 4 slots and you plug them into the wrong two, the system will have issues. If the motherboard has places for four and you have two, put one in the right-most slot (farthest from the CPU) and the other in the third from the right, so there is an empty between them.

I enabled XMP for the right profile and now its running at 3200mhz, but it still reboots the same way, I doubled checked the manual and the sticks are in the right spots. I think its a faulty motherboard somehow because I have indiviually checked another gpu and it reboots, tried another cpu and it reboots, tried different RAM sticks of same frequency still reboots, and different psu and it reboots, I have the latest BIOS update and OS (windows 10 home) is installed on a fresh 1TB SSD, and I have my gpu drivers updated, motherboard chipsets and drivers updated, and it still reboots. Are there are other drivers I could be missing? I also did the correct driver software for the 5600x.

Wow, you've really tried almost everything. The only last thing I can think of is to unplug the power and reset switches' leads from the motherboard. Start it up by using a screwdriver to jump the on/off pins. Maybe there is a physical fault in the mechanical on/off or reset buttons. Otherwise, yeah, motherboard sounds broken.

Yeah I'll try that as well, but I think I'm going to get a refund on the board and get a new one.
