AI conversational bots
Has anyone checked out any of the Chat AIs like Chat GPT? They seem pretty interesting. It's amazing what computers can do! I've heard people use them to write work emails, make character sheets for Table top games, make Decks for TCGs and make estimations on prices, and put together build lists. Of course it can also have a friendly chat as well! I had it make me a build list to see how well it does. It did pretty well, but there are a few changes that I myself would make to the list, like using more of the budget and from experience with some of the parts I would recommend different parts. It did very well compatibility wise though!
This is what the conversation looked like:
Me:
based on a $2000 budget, what are the best parts I could get for a gaming computer from Micro Center?
Chat GPT:
Based on a $2000 budget for a gaming computer from Micro Center, here's a suggested list of parts that you could consider:
- CPU (Central Processing Unit): Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.
- GPU (Graphics Processing Unit): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT.
- RAM (Random Access Memory): 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz or higher.
- Storage: 500GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (e.g., Samsung 970 Evo) for OS and games, and 1TB or higher SATA SSD (e.g., Crucial MX500) for additional storage.
- Motherboard: ATX or Micro ATX motherboard that is compatible with your chosen CPU and GPU, with features such as good power delivery, sufficient USB ports, and support for desired connectivity options.
- Power Supply Unit (PSU): 650W or higher 80+ Gold or Platinum certified PSU from a reputable brand such as EVGA, Corsair, or Seasonic.
- Case: ATX or Micro ATX case that fits your preferred aesthetic, with good airflow and space for your chosen components.
- Cooling: Aftermarket CPU cooler for better thermal performance, such as Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB or Noctua NH-D15.
- Additional Fans: Additional case fans for better airflow, if needed.
- Peripherals: Keyboard, mouse, and monitor(s) based on your preference and budget.
Please note that availability and prices of PC components can vary over time, so it's always best to check the latest prices and availability at your local Micro Center or other retailers. It's also important to research and compare different components based on their specifications, performance, and compatibility with your desired build before making any purchases.

I've messed with ChatGPT for various things and it's definitely a scary tool!
Most of the time it's pretty accurate, however it can be off at times. However, for the most part it can definitely help with day-to-day questions and operations.
This is the first time I've seen a parts list built with it which is pretty cool!
-
There was an interview on NPR this morning I was listening to, It is weird, it is like none of these developers of this technology has ever watched a movie. "I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave" Some of what they were talking about seemed straight out of a couple episodes of Dark Mirror. I am cautiously watching.
-
Not shocking it can make parts lists, Important thing to note is the current "free" version of ChatGPT pulls data that is a year or two old (I think like 2021), so that's why it's recommending a generation or two old Intel processor, etc.
-
Yes, it is from 2021 and it makes sure to let you know it's prices are out of date. I think the idea is really cool and maybe in the future we'll have more limited AI build lists on websites. You'll never be remiss to have a little human touch in there to check it over though!
-
I could definitely see AI build lists in the future (probably sooner rather than later) with up-to-date info at the rate things are going.
-
Have you guys heard of the AI Agent bots that can think for themselves and create other AI bots to complete tasks?
-
I haven't heard of that one in particular, but it doesn't surprise me. They write their own code that we can't really decipher after all.
-
LOL That's pretty much the most accurate video for AI Agent!!!
-
Yeah, just like that lol
