Poor performance in open-world games: figuring out what i should be focusing on for upgrades.
Upgraded to a 3060ti a while ago without upgrading anything else, fear that some components may be lagging behind. I've noticed that performance is especially poor when faced with any large, open world game, such as fortnite and elden ring. Fortnite struggles to maintain 90+ fps on all minimum settings for BR modes (others with a 3060ti seem to hit a few hundred fps), elden ring struggles to maintain 60 fps on all minimum settings. Either game performs far better whenever the loaded world is smaller. Is this performance expected on the 3060ti, should i upgrade other components, or could this be a software-related issue?
Heres my current build:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- Motherboard: B450 AORUS M
- RAM: 16GB (2x 8GB g.skill ripjaws V)
- GPU: ASUS dual GeForce RTX 3060ti V2 Mini OC Edition
- Case: Lian-Li Lancool II (Midtower ATX)
- Storage: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB
- PSU: EVGA 650w BQ (fan is broken; getting a replacement ASAP)
- Display: Acer Nitro XV272U Pbmiiprzx 27" WQHD (2560 x 1440) + HP EliteDisplay E201 (oriented vertically)
- OS: Windows 10 Home, Build 19045

Hi @hunter03! I am very sorry to hear that your system is not performing at what you are looking for. Personally, I do recommend a couple upgrades! Is there a specific price range you are looking to stay within for this?

No specific price range; i'm just looking for recommendations so that i can weigh some options; although i do care about the balance between price and performance (if option A is only a little bit better but costs 30% more, i'll generally choose option B). If i had to buy upgrades right now, i would be willing to spend around $600-$500 (but don't consider it a hard limit).
