Can you please open a store somewhere in the Buffalo NY or Rochester area. I am very desperate.

I live in Niagara Falls NY and I would like to see a Micro Center store open up somewhere in the region. The nearest store is over 4 hours away in Columbus Ohio which just isn't do-able for someone who wants to buy a new PC.

There are almost no electronics stores in my area that actually have things in stock and provide service.

We have a ton of college students in this region that could use a store.

I would be willing to settle for a store anywhere in the WNY region including Rochester, Buffalo, Brockport or anywhere within 2 hours of Niagara Falls so I can daytrip there. I would even be willing to settle for a store south of here in towns like Jamestown and Erie, PA though I think the Rochester or Buffalo regions would work best. Brockport is a huge college town which would bring a ton of business and is near Rochester.

The area from Buffalo to Rochester has a huge nerd and Anime culture scene and these people would love to have a Microcenter nearby. We have a ton of anime conventions and events and everyone talks about PC building at them.

The stores in my area are terrible and either have no inventory or are insanely priced vs online stores so I am stuck with ordering stuff online.

I hate to beg but I have no good options for buying a PC and again I think there are a lot of problems with shipping damage from PC's because the GPU's are very heavy these days and I don't want to deal with this. I've heard too many horror stories. It would be nice to be able to drive to a store to buy a PC, one that actually specializes in PC building and sells PC's that actually work, which Microcenter does.

  • No plans at the moment, however, West New York is highly requested. Who's to say what the future may hold? I can pass this along to the real estate team for you as well!

  • Thank you please pass this onto the team. There are a lot of colleges here that would bring a lot of customers. People would be willing to drive from other areas to get to the store too.

  • Buffalo NY is in need of a Micro Center, Best Buy here carries nothing in stock and all the PC stores here closed. Pretty sad seeing at one time we have CompUSA, Computer City, Circuit City and BestBuy

  • My brother lives in Rochester and he's always asking me for updates on if a store is coming so I'd also be very happy with one in the area!

  • yes we really need a store in buffalo area!!!!!

There's always room for growth! We'll make sure our real estate team knows we're needed in this area! Perhaps one day it will happen!

  • Just seeing this post and I would like to voice support for it. As a PC enthusiast / gamer / engineer, it would be really awesome to have one in the Buffalo area. There isn't much to choose from for electronics and Best Buy doesn't cut it. Thanks for your responses.

  • Yes! Western New York lacks major tech stores. there is best buy but they never stock anything. not to mention the University of buffalo itself, not to mention being able to just go into a store and buy parts and not ordering them off the internet, I would definitely shop there!

  • I wholeheartedly agree. There is nothing remotely close to Micro Center in Western New York. Currently I would have to drive over 3 hours to Ohio for the closest one. Please open one in Western New York!
  • As a fellow buffalonian, I endorse this.  I posted my case on opening a Buffalo location on here as well. Fingers crossed!
  • Thanks for sharing your interest! We’ll make sure your request gets to the right people! 😁

  • Buffalo once had stores like CompUSA, Computer City, Circuit City, and other big-box retailers. Now, the only one left is Best Buy! Adding a Micro Center to the area would be a fantastic addition.

  • I completely agree! I will poke our real estate team to let them know of the continued support here!

  • Poke harder, lol we need to get this done
  • Over the past year I have gotten into 3D Printing. Went to a Forum talking about how although not sure exactly which printer I wanted yet, said that the Bambu Lab Printers are what have my interest. However, with how Creality has a Fake Website identical to the real one, I’m hesitant to buy directly from the site as I’m not really sure how to verify the validity of it.

In response, they said that I should try ordering from a Micro Center. At the time, had no clue what that meant, but through some research and Reddit also suggesting a Micro Center, that of which had a link to the same Site I clicked on but wasn’t sure about, ended up here.

Went through this site to look for a location section, but couldn’t find it. Went to the search bar to then search, “Micro Center in Buffalo, New York”, which fortunately brought up this discussion.

Glad someone requested it, as we do need one.

With the original OP’er also mentioning how packages can get damaged, that is yet another reason why I would rather buy from a retailer instead, as I could just drive there, get the item and drive back, without the worry of purchasing a pricey item and going through the pain in the ahss hassle of returning it and such

There are at least 12 Colleges in the area. Off the top of my head there is The University of Buffalo North and South Campus, Buff State, Erie County Community North and South Campuses, SUNY Niagara, Niagara County Communty College, D’Youville, Medallie, Canisus…

To piggy back off everyone else, a MICRO CENTER is needed here, near here or within a 1 to 2 hour drive max.

So what’s the update? Cause you’ve been telling each person the same exact thing in this thread and the OP’s post was made back in June of 2023.

For the love of God, please open a Microcenter in Western NY.

I'd love to be able to go in to a computer shop again.

The only game in town is Best Buy whose PC part inventory is laughably inadequate and the way they handle product launches is a freaking insult to the industry.

    Today was the 9070/9070XT launch.

I stayed up until after midnight and the 9070xt cards were sold out the instant they appeared on Best Buy's website...scalpers literally bought them all in an instant. They didn't stock a single card in their store inventories- I was there at the time the store opened(10am) and confirmed this.

For the love of God, we have a HUGE need for a Microcenter or something like it. You've got like 4 stores serving the NYC area, the economics in the WNY could definitely support one...I'm not above bribery either, we have the best chicken wings on earth.
  • Agree 1000% with all comments so far. A Microcenter in Rochester or Buffalo is seriously needed. Our only real option is BestBuy and lets be honest, their selection isn't the greatest for anything not to mention very limited stock. The very few "private" computer stores in Rochester aren't exactly a huge supplier. The last ones I can honestly remember being remotely close to a Micro Center would be Circuit City, or CompUSA both of which closed years ago. Newegg, and Amazon are about the only "reliable" options for us. Pleeeeease get Micro Center here. It would be HUGE for the Western NY area, and not to mention parts of Canada.

  • I would like to bump this buffalo ny needs a microcenter the market would be huge here you have canada that would be coming over to buy and rochester and surrounding areas
