PowerSpec BIOS - Intel Default Settings - 8/23

OK thanks mike . I just dropped the unit off to the Cambridge Ma store under Shawn hall . The guy who took it in kept mentioning my unit being out of warranty and having to go directly through power spec for the replacement cpu because he doesnt know how to recover it from inventory? They had me speak to the manager in the tech department but he said he wasnt sure how much he was going to be able to help me. So they took it in to do a diagnostic and he said they would get ahold of me later today.( i dont have a good feeling about that at all) I also opened a support ticket online through microcenter and Vinny T. told me the same thing you said . My machine falls in the time frame of receiving faulty processors and they will replace it even outside the warranty date. I have no way to RMA the processor through intel because its in a prebuilt system. Do you know anyone at that store to maybe give them a call? I appreciate any help with this!

On the MSI web page there is what appears to be a newer BIOS 7D91vHF for my MPG Z790 Edge WIFI MoBo dated 03/13/25. It also mentions a microcode update. Is this newer than the 0x12B microcode? Is there going to be an update from Micro Center corresponding to this?

It looks like Intel has issued out another microcode update for 13/14 gen. It appears to address voltage instability for those that leave their PCs on for extended periods of time (days). Can we get confirmation that this will be incorporated into a future bios update?

I haven't been active here in a while, but I was wondering if there were any custom powerspec bios updates for MSI mobos after Nov 2024? I specifically have the MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI (DDR5).

I purchased a G472 model (MSI Z690) sometime in 2023 and I recently have been getting more into some more new games and recently experienced a lot of pc crashes, and I'm having a lot of issues with browsers and apps just constantly crashing. After searching online and finding these threads, a potential that my CPU has been degraded that can affect performance? Saw the first thing to do was to update bios but I am already running into issues with loading into BIOS.

I am encountering an issue here already where I can't even get into the bios (can't access through startup and pressing any of the keys, when I try to do the Windows 11 advanced start up, it just gives me the same black screen, and then shuts off. Since we need to be in the bios to start the advanced flash mode, is this already an issue? I am not the most tech savvy person and I am considering bringing to my local Microcenter in for the consultation and any service if needed. I noticed that when the pc boots up, there is no "Powerspec" loading screen anymore, it is just black as well on startup. In the case that there is signs that my CPU is damaged can it still be replaced under warranty based on the intial post?

Hi Mike! Thank you for replying. As I mentioned before I am not the most tech savvy, so I had accidently unplugged my pc to clear out some of the dust the day before and when I replugged in my monitor cables, I accidently had them plugged into my motherboard instead of GPU. After correcting that I was able to successfully get into BIOS and flash the update, then updated any drivers that needed update. Significantly less crashing issues if any at all.

Is it still good idea to assess my CPU? I am unsure if I am experiencing degraded performances or how to identify them in particular outside of the ones that crash my applications or PC. Appreciate the support.
