Does anyone know of plans for a Washington location?
So I live in Washington and the closest computer store to me is best buy, and they have just about nothing there. I have also seen a lot of people on twitter requesting a Washington location. Anyone know of plans to get a Microcenter location over here?

Hello @Pastelle
I'm not aware of any specific plans for a store in Washington at this time.
However, I'd be happy to share your recommendation with our corporate team regarding this! It would be great to have a store in Washington. Which Washington are you referring to? State or D.C.? I'd assume the state, but I want to be sure when I share your recommendation.

I do mean Washington state. Thanks for seeing this! :)

Just dropping in to +1 this.
Washington state (and especially the general Seattle metropolitan area) lost its only major computer parts store back in February of this year. The closest thing you could call to competition for Microcenter here would have to be the one electronics store in Bellevue aimed at hobbyists whose idea of getting to work on a project starts with turning on the soldering iron.
I'm just saying. Sales to be made. Money to be had. Nobody to really fight with over it. In what is ostensibly a top-10 tech hub city in the US.
Corporate should think about it.

What a coincidence. Did you see Jay's video as well?
I want to +1 this too. The store we lost was Fry's, which was literally the only major, big-box PC component store in Washington State. Now all we got is Best Buy, which leaves much to be desired. It's kind of insane to me that the Seattle area, home to MANY major tech and game companies, doesn't have a Micro Center, or something equivalent.

Greetings,
Thank you to you both for posting on the Micro Center Community! I sadly don't have the pay-grade to make the decision of opening up a location but I will send your suggestion over to the proper teams for consideration!

Hello, thanks for showing your support. Perhaps one day it can happen!

I literally signed up just to +1 this, the Seattle/Bellevue area has so many high tech workers between amazon, microsoft, google, facebook, boeing, tmobile, etc and there's literally no large electronics retailer except Best Buy. The only real option for PC parts is ordering online.

+1 Just signed up to voice my support after seeing this thread mentioned in the internal mailing ist of one of those many tech companies

Hello! Thank you to you both for your suggestions. We are for sure looking into opportunities for future expansions!

Created an account to +1 this I work for a major video game production company in Seattle and I know my colleagues and I would LOVE a Micro Center here!! I miss the one in VA when I used to live there!

Adding my vote for a Seattle-area / Pacific Northwest location.
Totally get that this might not go anywhere, but the decline and eventual closing of Fry's Electronics has left a huge hole in the area. Fry's used to be jam packed, even when they started stocking next to nothing on the shelves. Amazon and Best Buy have been filling a small portion of the local demand, but with Best Buy stocking less and less enthusiast equipment (outside a prebuilt maybe), and practically nothing that you might want with networking or hobbyist projects, Best Buy can't cut it. Amazon, if you can wait a day or two, often has the item, but its beginning to be a bit of a lottery if you are going to get a new or genuine product, and still some of my favorite brands on Amazon are eternally out of stock or not on the site. The biggest part is, I know I'm not the only one. Would love to have a Microcenter, even If I need to make a long drive/pilgrimage with my friends. Don't make B&H my only reliable electronics source! (Love you, B&H...).
I don't have metrics for ya, but Microcenter has been whispered about even before Fry's left us. You have mindshare, and you have customers with no where to go.
Hope this goes somewhere, but totally get if yall can't justify the location.
Much love,
~kk.

Desperately want this in Washington state. Come on, you couldn't miss this, as there are lot of techies here. I am surprised MicroCenter still hasn't opened one.

+100 from me. Just made an account to add my comment on this. Im currently on vacation and was searching for locations in Hawaii, and there aren't any. And since I was looking into the topic, I looked into building a new one in my home state, Washington. And found this discussion. And its still active today which I’m happy about! With fry’s gone. Building a budget pc with sites like offerup, bestbuy, and amazon(which is overpriced) is too hard. Many used gpus aren’t cheap enough for a good one. Im really hoping a microcenter is built in Washington, and I hope you see this, thanks!

I have lived in the PNW for 10 years now. When Fry’s closed it was devastating. Please I need a computer store I can just run down to with 1200$ In my pocket and get the parts I need. Amazon has become almost bad with delivery and prices.

Hello, thanks to you both for sharing your ideas on a new location! We'll see if it happens one day!

I'd LOVE to see a Seattle/greater Seattle location. Living in SeaTac my nearest MicroCenter is in LA. I miss being able to shop for parts in person and I'm no longer interested in using Newegg or Amazon for parts. Opening up a location in this area makes perfect sense

Made an account just to bump this post! Washington would be a great market to hit. Especially since many residents are more than happy to put money into someone's pocket that isn't Amazon.

Thanks for your sharing your support!

Obligatory "I made an account just to bump this post." 10000% agree with everyone on this thread that there is a huge hole in the market that Best Buy just can't fill. I would be so happy if a Micro Center opened in Washington or the Pacific Northwest! And, as this post is proving, I definitely am not the only one. Thanks for hearing us out!

Lol I also make this account just to let you know how big of a opportunity you are missing out on not being in the greater Seattle Area. It has been a major tech hub for decades and continues to pioneer new technology to this day. Thoroughly shocked we have not gotten a MicroCenter at this point. The only place you can really pick up PC parts is Best Buy and they are the worst retailer on the planet. You would have so much business from the greater Seattle Area.
-
Adding my opinion to this thread as well. Seattle metro area is one of the biggest tech hubs and completely lacks a retail computer presence (other than Microsoft and Apple stores, if those even count). We used to have CompUSA but that went away a long time ago. As others have said, Best Buy is mostly it and is hardly worth visiting.Seeing Microcenter's selection, stock levels, and pricing, with the "In Store Only" on everything, is really disheartening. Especially when we're reminded nearly daily on Reddit and other forums about Microcenter.
-
+1 from me too. Would be nice to have an actual store to go to again that has good tech items.
-
I think it would be a great fit in Washington state. There used to be a Fry's Electronics in Tukwila, WA. They ended up closing and the building appears to just be sitting there collecting dust. I would imagine that it would be easy integration since the building was used for the very same thing Micro Center is doing. Check it out, I would really love to be able to walk into a store and buy hardware components rather order everything online.
