ASUS TUF Gaming B550 Plus Series - Ethernet not working
My husband upgraded my computer with above mentioned motherboard, windows 10, etc etc. Before the upgrade my computer connected fine to the internet. Internet works through out our home, on all devices but mine wired and wi-fi. I called our ISP and the issue is not with them. We have tried changing cords, changing ports on the router, still can't connect on my computer. Drivers have been updated. The computer that he built for me is amazing and much speedier than my previous computer. I just can't connect to the internet. The motherboard is past what I believe as the 15-day window to return. So, I'm hoping that there is just a setting or something that we are missing. The internet indicator in the lower right hand corner of my screen says "Unidentified Network" No internet access - it has told us that we don't have a valid IP config, If anyone has any suggestions it would be very much appreciated.

Hello @KellyB65 and thanks for posting onto the Microcenter Community Forum. The TUF Gaming B550-Plus shouldn't have wifi, but the ethernet port should work.
The Ethernet or LAN driver was probably not installed. Here's a link below and install the LAN driver for the ethernet.

Thank you for that information. I did download the drivers, installed them on my new computer. But it's still saying the same thing.

If you right click on Start and go to "Device Manager", and expand the option for Network Adapters, what options does it show?

Try right clicking on both Family Controller options, picking Uninstall, and then rebooting the PC and Windows will try to re-load the drivers upon the restart completing.

I tried it. Still says the same thing. Unidentified Network - No Internet Access

Is there anything in device manager under "Unknown Devices" or "Other Devices" ?

I appreciate your effort if this doesn't get resolved I guess I'll have to buy another motherboard?

Hello @KellyB65 I understand you already tried reinstalling the family controllers from before. I assume it still talks about the ip configuration? Have you tried other ports on your router? Another thing I can suggest is running a couple of commands to reset both the TCP/IP stack and the Winsock. Both of these commands will have you restart the computer but you can run them both back to back and just doing one restart.

Yes It still talks about not having a valid IP Config - I would be interested in knowing those commands and trying that as well.

@KellyB65 just chiming in. Definitely try the Winsock and TCP reset steps. You can also try changing the DNS server to google's free DNS server to see if it gives you the internet with a different DNS server.
Changing DNS server could be a temporary solution for internet accessibility via ethernet.
