PowerSpec General Questions

I have a G443 power spec that I got in 2023. I recently updated my BIOS and when I went to adjust my ram I noticed the ram Frequency. Should I have my ram in G2 or G4? Also when it comes to fans should I have my cpu in PWM and in safe mode? Also should I put the Pump I. DC and the.n turn of safe mode? And should my case fans be In DC or PWM?
This was all set up originally but I think my setting got messed up with the recent BIOS update I did and I’m new to the whole PC world? Also when my AIO front fan speeds up it makes a auditable whining noise. Which it hadn’t done that till I updated the bios.Any help would be great -
For the memory. Those are gear modes. Don't adjust this individually unless you want to delve into overclocking. Just load the XMP profile, it'll do all that for you.
CPU should be in PWM mode. Does not need to be in safe mode. Pump is DC, I'd set it to full speed. Don't throttle it.
The case fans all run through the controller on the back. It needs to be on PWM, otherwise it'll just run at 100%. Probably why you're hearing the whining sound. We set to PWM as default, stock BIOS defaults to DC.

So if I put XMP will it override the frequency I set yesterday? Or can I disable that? I already put it on a G2 option
And then probably a dumb question but how do I set the pump to max speed?
also thank you for the response this helps a lot! I find BIOS very daunting -
It will and you should do that. XMP will set the frequency, primary timings, VDRAM voltage and may also alter SA/VDD2 voltage. Just change the frequency alone is very likely to cause some level of instability.
Should be in the hardware monitor tab. Let me know if can't find it and I can check a board. The pump header should default to full speed.
Edit: XMP won't touch SA/VDD2 behavior technically. That's board behavior coded to change when XMP is enabled. Only DRAM is actually set via the profile.

Hey @PowerSpec_MikeW Just bought the G722 yesterday. Everything works great. Updated BIOS and all drivers. For the life of me I cannot figure out these RGB fans. What software should I be using? I have tried MSI connect and lian connect 3 and nothing picks up fan control/color changes. I am stumped 😃
Edit I figured it out - looked closer on the case and have manual buttons.
-
I would guess the controller isn't synced. Toggle the M button on the case until it matches what the color or pattern should be.

Hi, I just bought a G752 PC
When it goes to sleep, all the fans stop spinning and the RGB lights go off. The PC looks completely off. Is this supposed to happen? I thought the fans were supposed to keep spinning in sleep mode or else the CPU will overheat.
-
Yes, this is normal in sleep mode.
-
@PowerSpec_MikeW thanks, just wanted to make sure as this is my first PC. Also, when it sleeps, is it supposed to sleep until you wake it up with your mouse or keyboard, or is it supposed to periodically wake itself up and then go back to sleep on its own?
-
It's possible Windows can wake it to update, but it wouldn't be frequent. You can do powercfg /lastwake from elevated command line and it'll tell you what's waking it up.
-
Thanks for your comment @PowerSpec_MikeW. My PC keeps waking randomly. I ran the report after my PC woke about 30 seconds after going to sleep and this is what I got. Something to do with USB?
-
It's the USB controller, so it's going to be a USB device that's plugged in that's waking it. Might disconnect them and find the offender through process of elimination.
-
@PowerSpec_MikeW ok, is there also a way to disable waking the computer with USB devices and is there some way to wake the PC without them? I appreciate your help so far
-
In the BIOS - Advanced Settings - Wake Up Events Setup - Resume by USB = Disabled.
