PowerSpec BIOS Requests and Questions - AMD

Yes, I tracked down the ASM4242 update package and updated the system, that is when I noticed that there is now a USB4 Support entry in the bios.
I enabled that (which automatically disabled TB4 support).
After restart, still the same story, no success with the driver install.
When installing the 8857 update The event log for application errors shows this:

Doesn't tell me much. I should get something from ASUS early in the week. Our card will arrive Thursday and then we can play with it a bit.
-
I found this regarding updating the card on the Asus support site. The files referenced don't seem to appear under the card bios/firmware tab in the support site.

It appears that I was able to get the firmware updated and a driver installed, the error has now gone away and I have a USB4 Host Router listed under my USB Controllers.
However, it doesn't connect to my ACASIS external hard drive (which does work on other USB connections).
It does give me the windows audible signal that a device has been connected, but the disk does not show up in the device manager.
I had to resort to using drivers from AMSM instead of the ASUS provided drivers to get this far.
-
I talked to ASUS earlier. They're looking into it.
-
According to ASUS it's an inbox driver on Windows 11. Should load automatically. Card should still be here Thursday for our internal testing.
-
Did ASUS have anything to say about requirements for a particular PCIE slot for the USB4 card?
-
Not yet.
-
On the Thunderbolt side, I'm not getting a technical explanation. My contact indicated it may be possible to change this behavior in the BIOS. On the USB4 I'm seeing the same issue, no inbox driver. Working with ASUS on it.
-
It would be nice if we could be confident of using our available PCIE slots with ASUS PCIE peripherals. There doesn't seem to be a good technical reason for the requirement that the TB card go into the short slot and for those of us with 3 slot gpu's, there are no other options besides the bottom slot.
-
ASUS is looking into it for me. I'll keep you informed.
-
We're still going back and forth, I'll hear something Monday hopefully.
-
I'll need to make a decision on returning my TB4 card by next Thursday.
-
I'm pushing them, we'll see what happens by Wednesday.
-
Latest is ASUS is working on a custom BIOS for us to fix this. If they can't deliver and you pass the return period on the card, I'll give you the cost of the Thunderbolt card in Micro Center gift cards.
-
@powerspec_mikew
That is great news!
which card will be fixed by the bios?
-
The Thunderbolt card.
-
Any news this morning on the BIOS for Thunderbolt Card?
-
Not yet. This type of request has to go through their HQ in Taiwan.
-
Where would I find BIOS updates for the G718? I've owned many PowerSpecs and the bios is usually listed under the downloads of the machine page but the G718 just says "updated available through Windows Update" with the only other downloads linking the Nvidia driver pages. I'm having crashing issues with anything running Unreal engine and Unreal suggests updating the Bios for AMD chipset machines. Help?
-
Do you have the ASUS Prime B650M-A AX6 or AX6 II? You can check in msinfo32.
-
Any news regarding the update?
-
It's the B650M-A AX6.
-
Made a request for a customized 3067 BIOS.
-
Still nothing from ASUS. I'll check with them.
-
They're working on it. Just getting back from a holiday on their side.
-
Still chasing this. The offer to buy your card in MC gift cards if ASUS can't deliver still stands.
