It does. Clean reinstall with DDU. If it continues, it's almost certainly hardware. We'll replace it under warranty.

  • Thanks - I'll give that a shot.

In the mean time, I installed the updated BIOS, and my RAM speed [my local MicroCenter installed 96GB of RAM at time of purchase] went from 6,000mhz to 5,200mhz. Its speed was set to Auto before and after the BIOS update, any ideas?

  • FYI, I came across a video that specifically calls out the 50-series GPUs having issues when running MSI Afterburner and using a 2nd monitor [like me]:

If you're running Afterburner, try the Beta version. I'll report back in a few days, hopefully that fixed it.

You need to enable XMP/EXPO in the BIOS in the BIOS. There's only one profile.

There were some initial issues with secondary screens, but it was flickering or black not crashing. If you're on the latest driver, it should be fixed.

  • Oh, cool, I'll fix that tonight, thanks! I saw 4 modes, though: A-XMP 1, 2 and EXPO 1, 2 - which one should I turn on? IIRC, none were turned on in the previous BIOS.

FWIW, I am on the latest NVIDIA driver, and experienced a quick static-then-black 2nd monitor earlier today, but it came back. No crashes so far. Only change so far was BIOS update [I'll have to wait until the weekend, when I can spend the time to do the DDU fix.

EXPO 1. If you change the RAM, it'll reset to auto. Let me know what you see.

Whoah. I could've sworn it was reading at 6,000mhz before the BIOS update, I know it was at 5,200mhz after the update, but now it's at 6,400mhz. I just checked the box [the tech at Microcenter put the stock RAM into the box the new sticks came in]… and it says 6,400mhz.

Either way, EXPO 1 is the way to go, thanks!
